There has been a syncro stolen that was making it`s way to us in Devon. We were told that it was local to us on Tuesday, but since found out that this was bullshite and the van is still around the Leeds area. We need help from members on here with local knowledge to help find and recover this van. See the post kindly put up by paul with details of the van.

Having recently had my own van stolen I am saddened to report yet another Syncro has been unlawfully taken.

Some of you may recognise the van from recent adverts on here. This Syncro was owned by Sandy, who after spending 4 years rebuilding and modifying it decided he hadn't got time to finish it himself. Hence it was put up for sale.

A buyer in the form of Mr. Ian Brooks purchased the van and it was sent by a 'reputable Ebay vehicle courier' south. It was collected by a Mr.Tony Garland of 'Northern Connections' and hasn't been seen since. Mr.Garland has a history of theft by deception as can be seen on Google.

http://www.shiply.com/answers/hi-i-got-conned-by-northern-connections-aswell-for-450-quid-di-you-get-your-money-back-752733/

Unfortunately the V5 was sent in ther glovebox, signed by Sandy :( .

This was over a week ago and the van has not been seen since. However it has been offered to 'Herbie's Hospital' for £1200 who declined the offer as the van has no engine, they had little information and couldn't see it directly.

The van is 'supposedly' residing in the Leeds area with a VW Specialist. Dai has been touring the area and will be contacting notable dealers over the next few days.

Below is a brief description and some photos of the van in question. Like mine its unique and hard to disguise as a regular camper.

MODS
5 3/4 headlights
hummer style grill
front tow hitch
custom made bumpers and bull bar
all arches moved up and out/ fronts on doors (big wheel space)
rear panel centre removed/ no plate plinth and lights on tailgate
rear lower corners lifted 2"

I know of a VW place behind the ESSO garage on A647 Armley Road into Leeds.
Friends bought some big bumpers from there a few months back.
No idea what the garage is called but it can be seen on Google maps, sorry not much help.

I am going to link this over CGTI forum seeing this chap has previous. Might save someone else losing a vehicle and get a few more folks looking out for it too.

That must be hard to take after putting so much time and effort in over the previous years. Ouch

I drive minibuses round Leeds/Bradford/Wakfield areas, number's in the phone, would be pretty hard to hide if it's being transported up the motorways so I shall keep my eyes peeled.

Stone174, I know that place, I work in Armley and fill up my T3 at that Esso. I haven't seen it there but I haven't exactly been peering through the gates.
I believe that is the yard of a guy off VZi, think it's the guy who had a smaller unit up by the Commercial pub. Possibly called Baz, but don't quote me on that.
Daily aircooled T3, knackered mk1 golf.

I did wonder how anybody was going to hide that, or why they would want to steal it to be honest. Maybe they just couldn't find it cause of the 'fun factory cam'. Wink

to be fair, at first glance i thought the same... but then when you look at the work thats gone into it, its got some very cool modifications. Especially for a Syncro.

Glad its been found

Not much information that can be given yet as the police are investigating it more in depth. We can reveal more once we get the ok from the police. Least amount said the better for now until the people have been arrested and interviewed, but the van has at least been found.

So the fact the company in question from Leeds that smash up VW's and are willing to buy and sell stolen vehicles needs to be hidden from public view because they are innocent?

Like fuck...they knew it was stolen and tried to make a few quid without anyone knowing!
