hi removed old glowplugs on my 2008 1.9 t5 . problem is the new ones seem to be a little larger diameter .and are reluctant to start threading into the head .the old ones go in easy.am i missing something are there two different thread sizes for my van .they look the same side by side but the thread on the new bosch ones seem larger diameter on the threads .the ones that came out are beru but that shoudnt make a difference .thanks

Try measuring the diameter with some vernier calipers. It doesn't matter what the number is, just whether it is different. If you hold the threads against each other you should be able to see whether the pitch (threads per inch) is the same or different.
Unless they are identical DO NOT try to fit the new ones.

As Greg says a basic (digital) vernier gauge (£10) can measure any differences but a simple comparison by eye should be enough in your case.
If you can find the correct original part number it helps. Some good ebay sellers have proper drawings with the measurements included so a quick look around could soon solve your problem. Make sure to include your engine code in any search because there are many different VW 1.9's and maybe you have been sold glowplugs for a different engine code.
