Evening! Smile...started to use the 'new' bus...LWB p/van...did a round trip of about 200 miles to a gig n back last Friday mainly motorway and only got around 20 mpg but was sitting at 65 to 70mph... prob about right??  Have an ancient Tickford LPG system fitted but its now obselete (no replacement parts available anymore) and doesnt switch in properly so still uses petrol on LPG and hiccups accordingly with both fuels being burned in there....bugger!! Soooo just using petrol for now...cant find any factory spec on mpg....anyone help me out!! Its running pretty rich but im wondering if it was set up for LPG in this way.. Cheers !!

looked at books that came with my lt when new (diesel) it gives some figures for a petrol engine, but only what they call passenger car (kombi) ,there`s none for a truck because of the different combinations you can have in height width etc,
anyway a bit winded but here goes, this is for petrol only

143 bhp,105kw, 4 cylinder 2295cm
compression 8.8
oil with filter 8.9ltr
vw500.00 high lubrication oils
vw501.01 multigrade oils

fuel consumption regardless high roof or standard lt35
urban 20ltrs per 100km
extra urban 11ltrs per 100km
total 14.3 ltrs  per 100km
these are regardless if you have axle ratio 5.286 or 4.857
the co emission in g/km is 329

the lt28 had an extra axle ratio of 4.375
which gave
urban 17.8 ltrs per100km
extra urban 10.4 ltrs per 100km
total 13.1 ltrs per 100km
the other axle ratio`s figures on the lt28 are the same as lt35

hope this helps and not confuse, any thing else just ask

Expect a diesel to be 10-15% better than a similar petrol vehicle at motorway speeds. Its at part throttle the diesel that the diesel is so much better.

Get the  compressions checked so  you know its worth working on, put it back to standard ditching the present LPG and have a good tune up and recheck figures before working out how much new LPG will cost and how long to pay for itself.

....Eyup...right a few months down the line now...have had the head done on the engine and new LPG pump and system fitted...LPG prices at the mo here are £2.50 per gallon so in effect doubling my mpg at around 32-35 consistantly at 'normal' petrol prices....cool !!! Thumbs Up

they are good figures (32-35), you`ve added 10+ to your original average figure, and with fuel at £2.50 a gall you will soon be quids in, whats the power like, and have you driven her fully loaded yet

Think you'll find the Andy means he gets 32/35 per £5 spent, e.g. every 2 galls of LPG (1 gall petrol price) not 32/35 per 1 gall of LPG, so it'll take him just a bit longer before he's 'quids in'. but he will get there pretty quickly given the mileage he does, Big smile
