What alloys will fit on a T4 and what mods need to be made to the wheel (along with spacer and bolt info please)?  Will any bolt straight on?

Cheers

Got my eye on a set of Wolfrace alloys sizes as follows:

PCD 122, 8.5J ET 42, 18"

Will they fit?  Will they need spacers or will there be enough clearance without?

Cheers for any help.

8.5jx18 will fit but not 100% about the offset, may need some light spacing on rear and it depends on tyres size and if its lowered and how much.

Cheers DeeDub, not to worry as the very nice man at Demon Tweeks sold me a set of 18" R32 wheels and tyres today, so now for a touch of lowering.  I don'y want to go too low just so that the wheels sit nicely in the arch.  I was thinking 40mm, is this enough?

Hopefully they'll be 225 or 235/45/18 extra load tyres to be fitted to a T4??

If they're 35's and less than 225...which they do look like...you've been had.

They are 225/40ZR18 Toyo extra load tyres.  Is there a problem with this size?

225/40/18's are 17mm smaller than the standard T4 set up so they will alter the gearing and speedo reading....slightly.

What tyres do you suggest should be fitted to the above wheels as I don't think they make commercial rated tyres big enough to fit these wheels.

But you've already bought some wheels and tyres.

thought they looked small, thats the thing mr demon tweeks will know very little about van wheels and tyres..............i would try and speak to them ,not correct load rating?incorrect rolling radius! if you told him what they were for you have a small chance they will change the tyres................very small.stick to yr guns and be polite

235/40/18's produce circa 69mph at the speedo

People fit many different wheel et's to T4's but ET45 is the VW inset of the alloy wheel they sell.  On a T4 the VW alloys are 1150kg rated I believe, Team Dynamic alloys for example won't gaurantee under a 950kg rating on a T4, but they say that 710kg is fine on a Vito, which seems odd as a vito can't weigh that much less?

A straight foward T4 panel is 1682kg with a 1200kg carrying capacity so I personally wouldn't go for any wheel less than 750 rated - but that's just my personal opinion, obviously.

You cannot get van tyres ie 8 ply in 18", 16" is the biggest as far as I am aware but you do need to fit XL (extra load) tyres which do come in 18"s and other sizes. Much less than a 97 rated tyre is not advisable - again that's just my opinion.

It's not just T3 owners who cock up their wheel and tyre choices then eh?  It's been said many times, but if you run underated wheels and tyres on a van (or any other big/heavy vehicle) and it all goes pear-shaped you only have youself to blame!
