is it a good idea to fit a 205 17 45 tyres on the front of a T3 van. the current tyres are 235 17 45.

Will i get a comfortable ride with these tyres? Can tyres places actually stretch the rubber over the wheels. Im totally confused.

I just want the van to look right at the moment the 235 17 45 stick out slightly and i still have to put 10mm spacers on the front. SO im guessing they will stick out more.

some advice pls people.

S'pose it depends what width rims you are running; but wouldn't have thought stretched rubber on a van was a good idea?

I've got 235/40x18s on the front of this, couldn't find any decent weight ratings on 225/40 tyres

the backs are much bigger but I don't have any wheelarch/sliding door restrictions

Tyres that are 'stretched' to fit rims that they are not really wide enough for look totally cr*p!!  I am not qualified to say whether or not they are safe, but I wouldn't think so!!

(Just my opinion of course)

It's all down to wheel width although there is a fair amount of leeway surrounding it.

Porsche 996 and 986 (boxster) come with 225/40/18s on 7.5 and 8 inch width wheels but 265/35/18 tyres on 9 inch wheels. Then again Porsche also fit 265/35/18 tyre on 10inch rims but also fit 285/30/18s on the same wheels.

I'm not saying that Porsche are the be all and end all but if Porsche are happy to fit these size tyres to these size rims and run them at speeds well in excess of 160mph... it'll do for me

On a camper I would make sure that the weight rating is more than you are ever likely to need.
