Thanks for the welcome! More of a mild reprimand..
I did look to see if anyone in the past had complained about the poor engineering at the public’s expense, re the door lock. I expect if I look in the forum I can read about the right hand drive shaft problem, and the modified / longer gear box output shaft that is fitted together with the new drive shaft, 50k miles. What about the magnetic ring on the c v wheel hub that disintegrates and wrecks the abs sensor, can I read about that? I promise not to irritate you yet again going over old ground, All wil be well if VW don’t engineer aircraft. We are on our 5th transporter, the T4 was much more trouble free. |

Also welcome, but you forgot to mention some of the other common annoying "foibles" ;)
Dodgy crimp connector in wiring loom under driver's seat Can't unlock passenger door so can't refuel Exhaust manifold that self-destructs Oil/water pumps that both leak and weld themselves into the block so you can't replace them Fuel supply problems leading to hard starting Leaking gasket between exhaust manifold and turbo Turbo vanes sticking "Mooing" from worn cam lobes (early cams were made of chocolate) Failing auto transmissions (caused by VW claiming they were "sealed for life and the fluid never needs changing") Failing ABS modules Faulty rotary switch for HVAC directional control Faulty free-wheel mechanisms for Alternator, A/C And I've probably forgotten several "foibles" myself - maybe we should have a "Common T5 faults" sticky thread ?

No reprimand intended Graham, not even a mild one! Good idea about a common problems thread Greg. It needs to include any known fixes though. Or links to other sites where fixes can be found.
