What will the dealer do if the punter suddenly decides to cancel? If they have signed a finance agreement are they bound by it?

Really does depend on dealer and allocation
We have 4 main dealers with strategic stock
I ordered 20 vans each from two of them six weeks ago
One dealer the vans are on ship
The other a month away

That is exactly what the dealer said to me but gave my dealer a chance to drop out the deal and he seems to want to carry on with it

Hard to tell with dealers as often a multi million pound business is as the mercy of an individual personality
Sometimes salesmen are just desperate and end up taking a PX that owes them wrong
I once worked for a car supermarket and wanted to demonstrate that the valuers should be
attending auction once a week to "learn the trade"
I changed the CAP windows to Euros (about 7 years ago when pound was strong)
and the dumb mules DID NOT notice
A lot of PX were taken in a few thousand out, but they attend auction once a week now :)

Absolutely spot on, Swiss!

Having had an insight into a large dealership, they have such weird and wonderful 'policies' for sales & then ignore the basics.

People buy from people, not vacuous multi-national names. If that sales person is not steered correctly the whole pack of cards falls, but many seem to misunderstand that.

Don't put up with shoddy service, people. Squeeze the lemons til the pips squeak..

I asked for a status update as well -

Hello Sir,

I am very well, hope you are well.

Your vehicle is in the production stage, at what stage I do not know, however this only means that it will be built very soon all being well the factory do not have another delay.

Once the vehicle has passed the production stage I will have a more clear indication of a delivery date.

I look forward to speaking to you soon

Kind Regards

I'm just starting to get a little annoyed now, I find it unbelievable that a VW garage cannot tell me what is happening to a vehicle at any given time. It seems there is a problem though as you have had a similar response from a different dealer. I think I will phone VW UK and see what they have to say about the whole affair, I won't hold my breath though.

If they can't even build normal vans, what chance is there of seeing a Sportline anytime soon?
Poo IS funny.

I think there are separate problems

1. 180 engine shortages
2. DSG and 4 motions shortages
3. Back log of Kombis due to new managed supply
4. I find that VW handle complicated specs very very well and this doesnt seem to infuence build times at all
Best just to wait on van really as it is such a customized one

VW and Mercedes have some of the best production lines
french filth for example and even more so Iveco wont do say blue vans until they have at  least 20 due to an older plant that required a greater bax mix of paint
