Noooo don't sell it!

Replace the Caddy with it! It's the perfect everyday vehicle for collecting and dropping off parts.

Hi Simon,

Whats with the fettling on the merc steelies then, dont they just bolt on.Confused

I looked at Futbus's upgrades earlier and he has got 205/75/15 tires on a 14" van and it only just misses the swinging arm.

I bought some colway AT 215/15 tires are mine going to rub on the swinging arm. Confused

The fettling with be a quick waft of silver.

I have a few customers running 215/75/15 @ ET 37 with no issues.

215/15's are a little bigger than 215/75/15's in overall diameter and on a fully loaded camper, you'll find that they will catch on the back of the front arches. Not a huge problem, just 'modify' the back edges a little to clear and all will be well.

With Merc steelies (as Baxter says) you should have no problems with clearance against the rear arms etc. Most folk use either 6x15 ET30 or 6.5x15 ET37.

Glad the shock bolt came out ok Simon, I'm really glad I didn't break it. Draper are sending me a free new head for the flex arm, result : )

I get away with 7" ET37 and 215/75/15 ColwayMTs with no spacers, they will just catch the front 205 spats at full deflection/lock, but I only run them off road and green lane, and two years event wear isn't bad at all and they still have their edges which wear off if used on the road all the time.

That shocker bolt took a lot of removing!

In the end the sleeve broke out of the bottom bush and came out attached to the bolt.

Once I could hold the bolt in the vice I tried to remove the sleeve, but well stuck so I just left the blow torch propped against it for a good 20 minutes, came back with stilsons and hey presto!

The Snap on bar didn't break, even when I used the trolley jack against it OVERNIGHT!

Passenger side all built up now, just got drivers side to build back up and should be on the road for the weekend.. hopefully.

Draper  replaced the whole flex arm with the butcher adjustable length swing arm, FOC, without predujice,

serious result, and Simon fonished the doka and I believe Ruth will be burying it in the mud tommorow

enjoy

Updated (again)

Evil knocking at front tied to the rock removed from the front subframe and the uber kerfurtled wishbone bushes..

Truck almost silent apart from the drone of the MT's and the occasional tap from the fully stretched shock absorbers.

Samples of front and rear dampers now with AVO, hopefully in a few weeks I should have some new lengthened adjustable dampers, and if they work out after testing then maybe for sale too... hopefully.

VC waiting on the bench..

Once thats on I may let Ruth use it more without having to worry about her taking it shopping!

The VC is a tad tight.

Fairly sure that the tight VC may have finished off the CV joints.

Yeah, Im sure that once the shockers are a bit longer it's gunna go up a tad more too!

Once i drop it on the floor after it's been on the ramp it doesn't "settle" it just sits there!

Springs aren't stiff either, if you anchor on you can get the front to dip considerably, can't wait to use it on some reasonably rock incline to see the difference.
