Hi Chaps,
I know in the past there was a long thread on here about whether Westfalia factory made RHD versions of the T3 had ever been made. In the end a couple of genuine examples surfaced.

I have just come across this quite in depth magazine article about the RHD VW T3 Westfalia Continental that was sold in the UK.

Interesting that even in the early days it was noticed that the Germans were not lovers of toastTongue

Enjoy:

Cheers,
Dave

On the contents page there's an entry for the '100,000 club'. Back then I only knew one person who had a car that'd gone all the way round the clock, and that was a Moggy that had, unsurprisingly, been pretty much completely rebuilt...

Ha... we just brought a 1929 Ford Model A Tudor this week... it's only done 98,000 by 4 previous owners LOL. Prolly take us a few years to do the other 2000!

Awesome article. Ugly roof though - nearly as bad as my viking was, before I modified it.

So a shade over 1000 miles a year through its life. Down the shops and back?

Found a couple more interesting earlier articles with a bit more info on the UK RHD Westfalia Continental plus lots of other stuff:

Interesting that it says 6 different layouts available.

Also:

Interesting in that it says the Westfalia was good value for money compared to UK models, so I guess it is suprising that there are not many around ?
Cheers,
Dave

Found an interesting 1982 RHD VW T3 Westfalia Continental Sales Brochure with a bit more info about the UK version of the Westfalia Joker.
It shows the 6 layouts that were available (confusingly enough the pictures show LHD vans but one of the magazine articles says that not all configurations were suited to the RHD UK vans).
It also mentions a couple of times that these were factory converted campers.
Interesting to see that there was also a higher spec side elevating pop top roof version available:

Cheers,
Dave

This LHD interior on ebay matches one of the layouts in the above brochure:

I've got a copy of Motor Caravan Magazine from april 1988 which tests a rhd mosaic joker. It's odd because it seems a bit late for a joker. The price was £15,000 converted. The conversion was done by a company called Ramclaim in Cullompton,Devon.
yeah,it's the punky reggae party,

Just came across this magazine advert for the Westfalia Continental ;-)
This advert shows that the Westfalia T3 / T3 Continental (Joker) that was imported from Germany and sold in the UK by a company based in Wolverhampton called Travel Cruiser (also known as Travelworld) was cheaper than the UK conversion companies Devon Moonraker, Autohomes CI Kamper and Danbury Diamond models .

I am lucky enough to own one 1983 van registered in uk in 84. Ordered in Germany by US AIRFORCE commander posted to RAF Lakenheath UK. Have every bill and receipt including the order form. Was featured in camper and bus I think about 5 yeas ago. Still in original white with green stripe
