Hi,
Can anyone advise if I need to remove the upper section of the plastic box E to gain access to the  plug for the above replacement  ( 7E0927903  ) , (although my 05 plate T5 shuttle is 7H), in which case it looks as if the h/light will have to come out ?
With the lid off I can see the vertical double sided  board holding the plug/sockets that lifts upward, but  is held down by all the wiring looms in there.
Im having to attempt this as local  VW garage had the cable " on order ",  for 4 weeks but methinks they did`nt want the job !
I understand that this is a fairly common fault & the fault only showed after I repaired 2 breaks in the lhside red/yellow brake sensor wiring "check brakes error".
Cross coupling the front ABS sensors, vcds still reports front left abs problem so I`m fairly sure its the problem (although 11.5 volts still gets to the left sensor ) ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Just to wrap this one up, despite successfully tracing the path of the ABS wires oldgit had to eventually give up (due to and time and marital constraints!) and let a local recommended specialist look at it.  I haven't done this job myself but apparently the ABS wires enter the E-box right at the bottom so you have to remove the battery, the E-box lid and then the top half of the E-box which (AFAIK) is held by a slider that needs to be pulled out to release the box. The ECU then has to be unbolted and the various wiring looms lifted out of their brackets to get acess the ABS wires.

You can buy a repair loom.  Oldgit (C'mon you've got to change that name!) used a tone generator to trace the offending wire and look for the break because the looms get bunched together in plastic trunking and are extremely hard to get at.  A tone generator is a handy tool for tracing wires or looking for breaks in them.  You can buy cheap but good enough versions online like this one.

Thanks to oldgit for reporting all this back by email. Clap  Let me know if I've got anything wrong.
