My T3 1.6TD doesn't see winter.

I have the original under engine cover and heat shields in place. The engine stays nice and clean, but I'm worried about heat. I understand that the original designers had this shroud system to get the system warmed up and stay wormed up, but traveling in the summer doesn't seem to fit.

Any ideas or opinions? I see most diesel conversions coming out do not have the covers in place...

they have then for a multitude of reasons , sound deadening , engine protection , aerodynamics, the ones missing are mostly because lazy folks don’t refit them

It's there for cooling too. airflow is directed while driving.

Part of the underpan, which could be missing, directs cooling air at the turbo, which must be a good thing. VW didn't put these bits there for nothing!
