Anyone experienced these symptoms before?

Think I'll end up changing it out myself fairly soon, will put up a thread about it when I do.

But just to be 100% sure thought I'd ask here first!

Basically:
-When reversing the van jams and stutters as it moves, like the brakes are being slammed on and off
-Crunches/grinds a bit when selecting second
-Also lurches and jams driving in all forward gears too, though it was ok last time i drove it!
-When in neutral and with the clutch pedal out it it seems to be binding somehow, bumping the revs up and down.
-Emptied out the oil to see how much was in it, only 1L, should be 2.7L... :(

Pretty sure its destroyed from the lack of oil in there!

Any help greatly appreciated!

Could also be a failed DMF and/or clutch (which might be cheaper) ?

No symptoms before this failure ?

2.5L engine with 6 speed manual transmission, or 2.0L with which 'box ?

The combination of the missing almost two thirds of oil and your description of the noises on drive do make it sound like a wrecked gearbox but as Greg aludes to, because some of symptoms are still there in neutral with the clutch pressed down (when the internals of the gearbox should be stationary as long as the van is not moving) you do have a fighting chance of it being the DMF. I wouldn't run it like that as the DMF can fly apart. Anyway the first step is to get the gearbox out and have look..
