As of yesterday, many of the great pics that go with the words here are no longer shown.  This is because Photobucket have suddenly decided to charge $399 dollars for 3rd party hosting.

Many of the posters who have used Photobucket to host their pics are no longer members because some of the work here dates back a decade, but yet they had all kindly left their pics here.  So unless they individually find those pics on their computer or phone (unlikely) and host them elsewhere, then re-post them they will never reinstated.  What a miserable firm Photobucket are!

I doubt if we will ever see a complete version of this quiet but brilliant little board again. Cry

Well BUGGER  !!! AngryCry

I've only been hearing bad things about photobucket for some time and people have been going elsewhere for their photo hosting.  I guess the decided to try and make more money, without considering the possible reactions (ie even more people leaving).

One thing I noticed on my missing pics is that if you right click on the photobucket warning and go 'inspect element' amongst all the code you can see the original jpg number (or name if you have re-named it) which makes it easier to identify which pic belongs with which words.  So if anyone does (kindly!) want to upload them to better hosting site like http://imgur.com" rel="nofollow - https://imgur.com  and put the pics back in their posts. Thumbs Up

F...ing great, thought i was immune.Apparently not.
Photobucket has gone downhill majorly, bulk ads, slow load times(trying to get those ads in, no doubt).

What a PITA to get posts and photos fixed

I've signed up for imgur and put a couple of pics up here as a test.  It's much quicker than photobucket to upload the pics and it isn't knee deep in pop ups for PPI, injury lawyers and porn!  I am putting all my pics together in separate folder called 'rescued from photofucket' in case it ever happens again. Well we are still here.. Big smile  I'm hoping that some folks here will be good enough to re-post their pics. Thumbs Up I might try PMing them.   I've been updating and re-posting my electric window how to do today.  What does anyone think?  Any gaffs or anything not clear?

nice little dig at PBClap, but appears fine to me.
I'll get round to mine eventually, using MS OneDrive.

edit:Just did my Auto Gearbox one, but unfortunately OneDrive is not playing nice, so had to individually upload each pic and under 100KB.Phew!!

Thanks Greg, Smile  I'll have to see if any other of my posts over the last decade-plus have pics that are worth renewing.

I must confess the way photobucket have dealt with all this really has got my goat!  I understand that photobucket are a business that has to make itself pay but I assumed the huge amount of advertising they carried was funding their bandwidth.  Apparently not.  The net result of their crap business planning has left a decade's worth of holes in forums and blogs all over the world where pictures used to be.

It doesn't seem to have been a well-thought-out business decision.  PB have totally trashed their reputation for very little in the way of financial gain (because very few people will pay such a high fee just to support their hobby).

Unless they reverse the decision or drastically reduce the fee charged I can't see the company recovering.

My goat is still being got.  And it gets got every time I see that annoying little message of theirs in place of what was once someone's carefully posted picture.

The internet is a great place and still full of nice people if you know where to look.  I always like to fix stuff if possible rather than chuck it out, but every time I want to fix something (like my TV, dishwasher or roof)  I see the dreaded logo.  The damage that Photobucket has caused to the internet record just goats me out.

If you haven't come across it yet here is:

f you put cursor over the blocked PB image, hold alt and left click and then "open image in new tab"........voila, the original

That doesn't work for me using Opera.  I can't see why it would.  Aren't you just trying to open a broken link, only in a new tab? Confused

All it does for me is enable me to see the image posted in a thread that has been blocked by FB thereby getting more info from which is the idea isn't it.
Works for me on Windows and my Chromebook.

Just had a quick google and there is something you can download to do to make it work with Opera.  I don't fancy risking it though. Shocked    http://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg?hl=en" rel="nofollow - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg?hl=en

Personally, I wouldn't piss on Mr Photobucket if he was on fire.
