You'll be fine fella, get out there - people will be paying more attention to your dog than you.

nb Do take or back up remotely any important docs; just in case your mrs spends her week getting legal advice or the locksmith in...

At the end of the day, who gives a stuff what other people think ! If it is the answer to your problems and gives you both (missus, not the dog, haha) some space and time to think then go for it.
I wouldn't think twice mate.

I go camping on my own at every opportunity. I take my dog too. It's not weird, it's nice to have the time to think about stuff, relax, sleep etc.

Just to clarify, I'm completely female.

Where does it say camping is only for couples or families? I've been away in the van loads of times on my own. Didn't feel weird at all. Does that make me weird?

Take stuff, music n stuff to read. I wont tell you Playboy has some good articles, but Rodox might have some good clunge pics. In fact you could place all the pics against your windows instead of using the curtains.

Time away will be helpful, give you time to assess and make decisions. My advice is don't get caught balls deep in the dog.

Wales could be risky. You could get a visit from Ron Davies, although I believe he prefers 'camping' on Clapham Common.

Why not have a looksy on one of those dogging sites. Could be an interesting trip if you get bored of the dog?

Nothing weird about camping alone. Driving a 25 year old van makes you weird though.

Nev, still waiting to meet a bird that thinks the bus is cool. Normally they roll on the floor laughing at it.

Went to camber sands on Monday spent two nights. It was ok I guess. Very boring being on your own though! Probably wouldn't do it again. But glad I done it

Being single I go solo camping all the time. It's great to just drive away to clear your head.

Got some piccies of my travels too. I've done Wales, Cornwall, Yorkshire, The lake district. I want to get up to Scotland as well. I mostly wild camp too. Beats the snobby campsites that look at my stealth camper with disgust (fuck em).

Have a look:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/jurasik2011/sets/72157643669707015/" rel="nofollow - http://www.flickr.com/photos/jurasik2011/sets/72157643669707015/
