Does anyone know of a good local VW specialist in the Solihull area?

Andrew at Volkwizard said there is a chap in Balsall common, but I am struggling to track him down.

Basically I want to get a new Autochoke fitted/fixed and then a tune up as the van is running rich and a bugger to start from cold and drinking fuel like my old V6 Audi.

Alternatively is the autochoke and easy install? then just get it tuned? The old autochoke was disconnected years ago as van was using to much fuel.

Think you will struggle for a straight up T3 specialist. Brickwerks is the place if you can wait it out for a free slot and make the trek to Huddersfield.

Other than that, Smiths Diesel Specialist on the A45 (Just before the Aldi on the left) is a general all rounder. (Not to be confused with the garage a couple doors up)

Cheers, Would love to go up to Huddersfield but bit of a treck from here, think I will check Smiths out. Hard to find a decent garage these days, know couple of great ones from my GTI days but they wont touch me Van.

Yeah I know it's a trek. If he had any sort of customer service he'd move lock stock and barrell to Solihull or Warwick. Useless clopper :)

But it is worth the trek for someone in the serious know to look at the old girl. If you talk nicely to him you might even get a brew...but only if you talk really nicely !

Whereabouts are you ?

lol, about time there was a virtual garage I reckon ;-)

Yeah you are right, its would be worth the trip as I do want her running right as I intend to do a lot of shows next year selling my T-Shirts etc. I am based in Solihull, its a fair old drive but she runs really well once started, just a tad rich.

I was over in Monkspath / Shirley....

Near Smiths there is a carpet shop that uses a T3 as the delivery wagon. He might be able to tell you of anywhere else if Smiths isn't where he takes it.

The receptionist at smiths is a big VeeDub nut too....

Ended up taking it to Bounce rentals in Balsall common, turns out there are quite a few VW Specialists up at the same farm as where they are based.

I have decided to send the carb off to Bromyard VW (as seen advertised in other threads) to have it stripped and re-built.  So spanners out at the weekend to remove it. No van for at least 3 weeks, so time to start on the interior fit out and start on the girlfiends new aircooled T3 Holdworth Camper which needs a full refit and spruce up.

The guy you're asking about is Bob, who owns a company called VOLKSHAUS. He works from an old barn in the Balsall Common / Kenilworth area.

A mate of mine and very good with all things VW, but tends to specialise in Buses.  I always take mine to him, and he does an excellent job, for reasonable money.

Cool, worth knowing, I bumped into an old mate of mine up there Steve O, hes more of a Vintage VW man, he runs the unit next to Bounce and he said that Bob is brilliant, so I know where to take it in the future
