I did try a forum search but couldn't find anything full. So far it seems like VW vento, Seat tolledo, VW golf, but not sure which exact variants (beyond them being 1.9 tdi's).
Maybe if we could get a comprehensive list of the exact models and years which had them it would be a useful future resource for those hunting for AAZ engines...?

AAZ's are not tdi's, and aaz engined cars would normally be badged TD. Golf CL's and GL's mainly, but GL's switched to tdi's a lot earlier. Same goes for Passats. As a contradiction to that there are a few Golfs and Passat circa 94 that are badged tdi, BUt still have an AAZ and are infact TD's. Bit of a changeover glitch?
Seat Cordoba also, but I think these are very rare.
Generally speaking AAZ TD's came in in 92 and phased our around 95.
That's my very rough guide as I believe it to be!

I think the T4 has its own variation of the AAZ with a different pump, which I guess they're including in that list, even though the only codes mentioned are AAZ, and ADE which is an industrial generator engine. interesting list, but I wonder if it's for a specific market, or just not a complete list? so add the Seat's to your first list and I think that's about it. I didn't realise they ran the AAz for so long in the Golf range so that's interesting to note. Ok, i've read this post but have just bought an aaz engine which the owner claimed was from a 1996 seat inca. The engine is definitely an aaz but seems to have a V belt alternator pulley as opposed to serpentine on mk mk3 golf engine! Also has an eco pump and garret t2 turbo... Anyone know anything about this set up?   No details of the vehicle are available as i bought it as an engine in a shed... Cheers |

Also found in fork trucks, fire pumps, boats, road sweepers, all manner of stuff as industrial engines...but not coded aaz and and may be tuned for different outputs. All hard to find now... |
