I found http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/vans/advert+search/N-244,Ne-7-8-27-64-105-133-146-236/advert.action;jsessionid=DE811FEC2792FDECF67F8349358A95A6?R=200946345908664&distance=366&postcode=BT57+8TN&channel=VANS&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2007&vehicleRegLetter=07&make_keyword=Volkswagen - this  and reckoned there has to be a digit missing in the price (probably a "1" before the quoted price) - If there aint it is mega cheap......

I like the quote in the description that it will do 130LOL

I know for a fact it wont (tried my own 174 on a private roadWink) - unless of course he had taken the trouble to have the factory set limiter removed.......

That makes sense, the sort of thing were you get a reply like:

"Hi, I am selling this fine vehicle on behalf of my dead brothers cousins wifes hairdresser who unfortunately overdosed on viagra.

The van is the 7 cylinder spitfire engine model with dual flux capacitor that you desire

This van is presently is Nigeria Austrailia but free same day shipping (to your door) is included in the price

Payment must be made by Western Union to "Scamtech Paysafe" Escrow account where the money is kept in a totally secure 3rd party account until you have taken delivery of the goods and then you forward the code to release the money - Of course you have 6 months to test this vehicle to ensure you are 100% satisfied before completing payment

Please forward the following so I can start the scamming process:

Name:
Address:
Age:
List of tattoos:
Shoe size:
Bank account number (with sort code):
Credit card number (with start/end dates and 3 digit card verification code on rear):
Inside leg length:

Once I have this information a fellow scammer colleague will be in touch to shaft you transfer funds into the 100% totally secure "Scamtech Paysafe" Escrow account

Regards,

Edward"

This style of thing except with infinately worse spelling and grammar

Yeah thats normally the case - a genuine advert thats been cloned

Usually a quick look will uncover a heap of flaws that dont match the accompanying description ie: Vehicle in some far off place but looks to be a UK vehicle in UK surroundings

There was a scam recently that was within the M25 where a vehicle was advertised at a low price, but the vehicle never existed. The ruse went something like this:

You made the phone call to the sellers mobile phone and you were instructed to meet up at his "home address" only it wasn't his home. Turns out it was an empty house and you had to bring cash only to buy.

When you got there you were robbed at gun point and the robbers then drove off with your money.

How do I know this, I helped out in a scam to catch them and put them behind bars. Big smile

You've been warned!

I have had a response from the "seller" (I probably shouldnt post this in case someone else steals this fantastic deal from under my nose)

Good afternoon Danny,

I appreciate that you contacted me. First let me say that the 2007 VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER 2.5TDI PD, diesel, is available for £6,000 + free shipping to your door only for UK, the VAT is already payed.
This van has never had paintwork or any issues, it is one of the best all around driving vans you can buy. If you have been waiting on a real clean enthusiast owned VW Transporter, you have found it, more pictures at

I sent a question to the seller from a ficticious e-mail account I set up with a false name and got a similar reply.  Rather worringly, and co-incidently, the person who responded was actually using my real name - which isn't that common.  I sold something on autotrader fairly recently and wonder whether they've just lifted my name from e-mail address on my ad - bastards!

Seems it aint sold at all - "Matt" has contacted me again after I emailed him asking where and when I could view, (My prediction earlier in this thread was close enough):

Hi Danny,

The van is in perfect condition, tires are 80% good, MOT-ed up to Feb. 2010, no accidents, no hidden issues (please HPI check the VRM), full service history with all bills, no modifications all factory fitted, still road taxed for this year, VAT already payed.

Our deal will run secured and insured by AirCargo Express CDS mhtml:%7bC2B03385-F146-45FC-9CDC-2E1E7E4AC0A0%7dmid://00000094/!x-usc:http://www.aircargo-express.eu.com/ - www.aircargo-express.eu.com , they will hold your funds during van delivery and inspection period (5 days for inspection).
If by any reason, you will decline your aquisition, AirCargo Express CDS will refund you in full and I will get back my shipping expenses from van insurance.
In order to start the official transaction I need to know the shipping address for AirCargo Express. As soon as I have it, I'll start the official procedure and ECDS service will notify you about this.

Kind regards,
Matt

"Matt" has assured me that viewing the van is not necessary as it is in perfect condition, also included in the deal is a 5 day inspection period - result or what!LOL

Hi Danny,

I would love to close the deal in person with you but this time I can`t because I am busy with job duties in Italy, I have many meetings in Bari, Bologna and  Florence.
You will get 5 days inspection period prior your decision to buy the van, but first you have to complete the deposit to Air Cargo Express CDS or eBay Motors as a third party.
In order to start the official transaction I need to know the shipping address for AirCargo Express. As soon as I have it, I'll start the official procedure and ECDS service will notify you about this.

Kind regards,
Matt

I have emailed him. Here, for you all to see is a copy.

Hello my friend, and a good day to you. My name is Mpwengay Ksanga, the very reverend minister of the Kuntuku Church of Nigeria. I see that you have a wonderful Volkswagen van for sale. My parishioners and I have been saving for many years to acquire such a wonderful vehicle to help us spread our dear Lords word around the townships. We have managed to save up six thousand of your British Pounds and would like to buy your vehicle. If you could arrange for the vehicle to be left at the docks at Tilbury at your earliest convenience, I will send one of my flock to collect it. If you would be so kind to let me know any additional costs incurred in the transportation of the wonderful Vlokswagen vehicle to Tilbury docks, I will ensure that my colleague brings this with him. I would come myself but I have important meetings with government officials for the next few weeks. Actually, I wonder if you would be so kind as to help one of these officials with a matter of national importance. If I were to place in your bank account (only temporarily) £850,006000, and then you give my colleague back the £850,000000 in cash, I would be pleased to give you say £100 for your trouble. No no no no. Forgive me for even suggesting such an imposition. Please inform me when it is convenient to purchase the wonderful Volkswagen vehicle. Your servant The Very Reverend Mpwengay Ksanga

I`m gonna play him a little more and then try him for a swop:

This is my standard response:

I am a little strapped for cash at the moment so I wondered if you would consider swapping it for a 3 wheeled van? I have included a picture of my brother and I with the van.

It comes complete with go faster stripes and sunstrip.

It has done 28304756284 miles and was serviced religously every 3495637399930 miles. Do not let the miles put you off because I can add or remove as many as you like to your "desired" mileage.

I cut the sunroof into it myself and it works well while there is no rain. A yellow mac is supplied in case of rain.

It will do 70 MPH but you do need a cliff to achieve this.

The rear window has a small crack but I have sucessfully repaired it with selotape.

It is a little rusty but you do get used to the hole in the floor and remember where not to touch.

Optional extras include sat nav, steel wheels, speedometer, air con and cigarette lighter. Window wipers are available at extra cost.

This is a very reluctant sale and we only sell this fine vehicle so my brother can finally realise his dream of becoming a woman and the money from the van will pay for the operation.

I could take your van as part exchange and we could negotiate how much money you will have to give me.

Please let me know if we have a deal

Hi,

I need some cash for bills so I cannot have the accept the swap with your nice car, the good news is that I can hold the vn for you one week if you are keen to buy it.

Yeah but you were trying to scam himLOL

Ok - here is my reply:

Hi,

Is there no way we can sort out a part exchange for these two vehicles?

I may be able to reduce the price of my vehicle since Bruno (my pet rottweiler cross) has been living in the rear and he is not yet house broken (It would benefit from a clean)

The last time I attempted to clean it I almost lost my glass eye and have not tried since

Also, the vehicle is not as keen to go round left corners as right corners so with these defects in mind I would consider a straight swop

I am currently awaiting a shipping quote from  "AirCargo Express CDS"  and provided you are agreeable I will ship the vehicle to your door and give you a 5 day inspection period

Let me know if you are interested as I have had other interested parties in this unique vehicle

Regards,

Danny

He has emailed to decline my offer but I can still purchase with cash, so I want to be sure it fits my needs before committing:

Hi,

I am still interested and can do cash - can you forward some pictures of the rear of the van so I can show Bruno to ensure he likes it

I am convinced he doesnt like my current van and this is why he has torn the insides up so badly

I need a larger van since he will be sharing it with the jack russell from number 20 and the pups when they are born

Ok, had another email with some pictures, one of which showed it was a kombi

Heres the reply:

Hi Matt,

Thank you for the pictures - It is exactly what I require and Bruno literally soiled himself when he saw them

Will the rear seats be included with the vehicle? Are they easy to remove?

I added additional seats to rear of my current van but it was very tight when all five seats were fitted and Bruno was awfully cramped at night - sometimes it took both my wife and I to push the door closed once he was in

There were times when I thought I could see the imprint of a seat in his side the next day - we decieded this was not ideal and a larger vehicle was required

Is your price negotiable at all as no one is offering as much for my van as I had hoped - I am starting to think it is not as desirable as I first thought although I have had a couple of solid offers but one wants to part exchange for an inferior van which I am not interested in

Regards,

Danny

I got yet another email from "Matt" directing me to forward my details so he can begin the shipping process with "Aircargo Express CDS" as they are "secured and insured"

My reply to this was:

HI Matt,

Sorry for the slow reply

We have been very busy as Bruno has contracted swine flu - its hard to believe so much bum fluid can come out of one dog

On a positive note it did show up the areas on the rear doors on my old van that werent sealing correctly

Anyway he is now on the sofa with some Tamiflu on board and he`s looking sharper already

Are you sure we can trust these "Aircargo Express" people? What if they go bust or run off with your money? There are an awful lot of dishonest people out there

I would feel happier posting the cash directly to you but if you are sure this is the best way then I will forward my details

Regards,

Danny

Very good reply LOL

Please keep us updated

Cheers Andy
