According to the website, there's a fourteen day money back guarantee if you're not happy with the improvement in performance. I would imagine if you don't get the quoted figures on the rolling road, there'd be a refund.

Does sound tempting.....

i think you'll be very happy with it. for some reason it just feels right when you drive it and are left wondering why VW restrict them so much.

if your going down to celtic to get it done they have a dyno. a before and after run would be interesting to see.

I bought the emotion device, i plug it into my ecu via the port under the steering wheel the i copy the ecu data and it saves on the emotion tool, then plug it into your pc and go to celtic website and email them the ecu data, they then modify it (remap it) and send it back via email, so you have a standard map and a custom map, so you can switch between either, dealers are not supposed to be able to detect it or insurance companys wouldn't know if you didnt inform them (mines not done yet btw)
by buying the emotion box it cost £120 per vehicle from there on, so if you sell your van you can use it on your next vehicle aslong as the box is compatable.

i never believed the figures and rand them on a few ocassions, they say the 85bhp version gives the most bang per buck as its a detuned 105bhp version and the engine is capable to produce that power without killing the engine, they offered me to go down to thier depot to have it put on the rolling road before and after so they must be confident.

The Transporter T5 84bhp variant is a factory detuned version of the 102bhp model, this enables us to provide 102bhp and 184lbft as a stage 1 remap for those who want factory standard specs or 150bhp and 248bhp for those wanting the best from their engine. The TDi engine fitted to the T5 is almost identical to that fitted to the MKV Golf but with a different turbo fitted, therefore power gains can be huge with the addition of an uprated turbo.

We develop all of our software on the rolling road to ensure accuracy in terms of both power delivery and also to ensure fuelling, boost pressures and exhaust gas temperatures are all within tolerance. Our aim is for maximum power whilst maintaining optimum reliability.

If you get it dyno,d i think you may be disappointed if your expecting 150 bhp at the wheels, the dyno print shows maximum power of 117.5 bhp at the wheels after the remap, i like the sound of the emotion device though especially for those whose vans are still in the warranty period.

150ps from a 85 can not be done
Maximum power would be 120ps without smoke and affecting reliability.
Celtic are misleading with that dyno print and stating in the 1st palce that it can be done.
If anyone is after a self remap unit, contact me for a price via pm. I can do them considerably cheaper with a tuned file.

most tuning companys who quote bhp are at the crank and not the wheels Cry

I asked the same question, but their answer was most mappers buy in the maps, these are their own maps as mapping is 99% of their buisness.

they have done alot of T5's, a few from this forum if you do a search and no complaints so far i guess i will have to wait and see.

Even if you get it mapped dealers wont tell its mapped, the emotion device also doubles up as a code reader.

The self remap units are a great little tool, they are made by the same company and badged by the tuner, imap, switch, emotion etc. They also read and erase fault codes, and the best feature is the flash counter reset, after flashing your van you can delete all trace of it being doneSmile. You will be more than happy with your remap Fozzy, I also have a tuned 85ps, it really does feel like a different van.

I could be wrong but I think the £120 only gets you the "tuned" file after you have purchased the small box to upload it at additional cost

Yes, i'm afraid £120 wont get you a re map. We had quite a lot of interesting input from the remapping specialists a while back while they were mopping up any un tapped business, but its gone a bit quiet lately...

yep your right £312 for someone to come to your house and flash the ecu or £412 for the emotion box, then any car you buy can be flashed for £112 a pop.

I too have had mine remapped to 150Bhp by South West In Car Tech in Bristol, for £290.

It makes a huge difference, I also get between 4-5mpg more now... aces all round!

Big smile
