well spent a few hours picking faults with the new toy sunday and to be honest its mainly bodged up silly alterations that i want to sort! coz they look shit!

exhaust doesnt sound too loud or chavvy considering its only got the bike can on it! but its too low and looks crap so i'll be making something more easy on the eye!!

the interior is prob the worst area of the lotLOL its dirty! excellently bodged!! and just downright poor workmanship!Shocked

this next picture is the best....

something juuuuust not right here??LOL bloke says "i've spent ages pissing about with the linkages and cables but just cant get the kick-down to work!!!" might be a good start if  YOU PUT THE FUCKING ACCELLERATOR PEDAL IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!!!LOL

side locker area needs painting inside as the new load bed floor has been fitted (quite well ) but weld penetration hasnt been cleaned off or protected from the elements!Ouch full of condensation too sunday butit was pretty cold tho!

if it all goes tits up im guna make another trailer out of it! thats what happened to the single cab!!LOL

more to come as i start taking stuff off and fixing the bodges!!

those wipers... check there's no slack in them, they look like the two come quite close to me - like on the coaches at work; you may want to doucle check/adjust that incase they 'snatch' each other when going along, and hey presto no wipers at 70 on the motorway!

yeah used to be a lefty! cutted the bulk head out by using those "plasma" cutting disks, there really thin! so cut as close to the b pillars as possible and around the seat boxes then when it comes free stick on a grinding disk and dig out the spot and tacks then pick of with a flat screwdriver. looks tidy with no dents or damage!

been fetling over the xmas hols and so far got it to here!

a few more pics of the seat bases

made up the rear bench from a shortened velle base and a few lengths of 25mm rhs

and not shown.... the rear of the back supports are another 2 lengths of 25mm rhs which tucks over lip on the bottom and bolts to the main box across rear of the crewie

looks like this

just need to make up speaker boxes for either side and fix side bolsters and seatbelts.
so far only made 4 holes to hold that lot in so as not to have brackets and welded bits all over the shop!

prepped floor for welding!

and cut out some abortion LOL

welded  exhaust back on in a sensible fashion!! was looking round for a nice exhaust but could only find stupid priced or corsa only!!

looks tidier and still isnt too loud! also fitted them postoffice lights i bought of baxter many years ago! cant rush these things!

Come on Rowlesley, spread trhe word where did he get the new load bed from?  I am due to start hacking away at mine shortly.  Any info would be great!

Wicked job you are doing keep it up.  Take a look at mine, fitted with 2.5 Subaru motor, f***ing flies, just need to get that front down another 80mm (so much for 80mm being max drop).  Give me a shout if i can help with anything.

Thanks

Griff

(should of guessed that by now tho eh?) runs eventually but still need a service kit fer the pinto coz im sure its only running on 3? (at the end of the day its a shit ford engine thats running points and condenser so in my opinion its no better atm as a fuckin bay!) still looking into a 2.0l 16v mk3 golf lump or a nice vr6 would be good! wonder if the autobox would put up with that!

painted me dash and mounted the rev counter! (retro fit ....nearly!)

i got a set now chap cheers!Thumbs Up

look what just turned up..............................................

basicallyto get my conversion started i need to fit the tourque converter to the engine, but there not designed to mate!
so the only way i could see after about an hour of staring at it, was to cut the middles out and swap em!

so take a clutch plate and cut out at 100mm centre, then when you have done that it needs a 2mm lip on it to locate the tourque converter plate which hs been machined to 96mm, then that fits snug in side. all i need to do now is rotate on the plate and weld it together

hopefully if i can get a nice smooth weld and a steady hand i cant see there'll be much imbalance to cause vibration when spinning?

once this is done i can offer up the autobox to the engine and get a measurment for the thickness of the adaptor plate to bolt this ensemble together!

na mate! as long as you make the seat bases off the new seats as tight of a fit to the t3 bases you'll be right! i had to trim the width of the t3 bases to stop em sticking out but thats about all! you can get the rear part touching and tack it in place then just move the front up and down according to personal taste!

I'd spin it up in a lathe if you can before fitting to check any out of balance.   A small out of balance could cause a bit problem! ... think about wheels and what a difference a small weight makes.   Keep up the good work! Wink

well been to see the man in the machine shop and adaptor plate is taking shape! steel ring was ordered just before easter and things have been waylaid! shit happens i spose! gives me an opportunity to work hard - save money for doka and have nothing much to spend on at the moment! should be done in the next couple of days!!!! just selling off some of my toys as i had 4 cars and 2 bikes!!!! down to 2 cars and 2 bikes now with the husky going on ebay end of the week that'll be sold soon hopefully then i can start looking for a newer one and sell the drz! thats the plan anyway! just the doka landy and a new husky that should keep me happy for the time being!

doka........well after getting the ibiza and stripping it sold most of it off and making my money back thru the parts, im left with the abf 16v. now this puppie has an immobilizer built in with the ecu and i was thinking get it remapped to bypass it? seems to be a pain in the arse! and the fact that i binned the cat with the lamba probe in it!doh!! seems the engine needs the lamba otherwise it thinks its always in warm-up mode which runs the engine rich until up to temperature! eventually it'll just melt the rings like this!! note to self do homework before giving away your hard earned! so ive had a long hard think and have been out and bought this!.........................

1994 2.0l vento gl! running it until the end of the week then its getting pulled apart mainly for the engine and associated parts needed to run in the bus and the rest will be scrapped and sold to regain some kind of initial outlay! must say it drives nice! and only covered 117k with service history until 109k its been quite well looked after! and for £200 withe the bonus of a brand new panasonic tuner cd player anything i get in return for parts will be a good result as far as im conserened!
i havent done a single thing to the doka since as ive been working a new job which includes weekends and spending time sorting other cars and stuff ready to sell em! but with any luck the bus will be rolling soon (self proppelled not pushed round the yard this time!)  and this new purchase should see some activity with the bus again!!! really wana get it sorted now and go play!

more pics of bus up the weekend with any luck!

im interested to see how this fits, the inlet manifold on these should be better for clearence that the 1.8 golf gti lumps as they roll round more but the block is taller.

at least with this lump you can run diesel hoses and it should look quite O.E

-------------
WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough

well its gunna be sat upright pretty much as it is in the vento. i cant use the diesel bits on the autobox as i think it'll make life a little bit more awkward! i think i'll just have to extend the metering head pipe and maybe buy a induction kit so as to loose airbox? hopefully i wont have to cut any of the fire wall or rear-most panel! i really dont want this to look bodged up hence the machined adaptor!! we'll have a trial fit and make up the engine support bars and any other fabbing of parts needed then take it all back out and clean up the bay and engine and paint and polish stuff!Smile

engines out just need to pull exhaust off! need a 4 poster really!!!

now gutted and sat outside the unit just in case i need anything else!!

adapter plate is now fitted to the 8v engine and im anticipating fitting the autobox and removing it quite a few times this weekend!
as the engine was attached to an auto transmission in the vento it already has the coverplates for the lower next to the sump and the rearmost one where theres a hole to access the tourque converter retaining bolts! nice!! i'll bob some more pics up of the new set-up this weekend!!

wheres the excited emoticon????

That extra room at the top of the engine bay in a pickup looks like it makes it a helluva lot easier to fit different engines in.

All looking good rowlsey, another man with a bakery trolley/engine stand, Wink, take it theres no clearance problems with the engine upright then, seems the way to go with a pick up, good luck with the fire up, looks like it will be soon.

Posted By: rowlesy

yeah loads of room in there now! that extra 6-8 inches really helps!! got the battery tray out of the vento so thats going where the fuel filter is. bought a facet fuel pump and gti inline filter so those will be fitted like the dj set up across the main chassis rails underneath. exhaust is gunna run across the back similar style as normal. just doing the down pipe with lamba then fitting a mid and back box that came off the ibiza and if that dont sound or look too bad i'll see about getting a nice stainless jobbie made up! oh and then im making a skid plate that bolts to the adaptor plateto protect the sumps on the box and engine.

thats the exhaust done!! looks kindof ok! didnt take one of the back-box (which i cant decide looks tough or chavvy?) as it exits behind the drivers side which is against the wall!

started to wire it up and did get it to turn over and fire up! (youve got to havent you!) but there was a very loud mettalic sound and realised i havent filled the auto-box and converter!Shocked

almost pissed meself when i realised and hope (fingers crossed and all that) i havent fucked it!

as i ve left it! might tidy the wiring up a bit!LOL

shouldnt of left it yesterday as it wouldnt start today????? spent most of today re-tracing my steps to try find why the fuel pump wouldnt cut in!!! one wire missed out!!! can you belive it!!  never mind eh?

nice b&q induction pipe (read drain pipe!) need to make a bracket to hold the air-flow unit as its just resting behind the battery

behind engine! just need to wrap the loom to keep all the crap off it!

the fuse box and ecu are in the box out behind the wheelarch tub and covered by a plate. so its working and drivable but and theres always a but! one of the water hoses is leaking and so is one of the oil cooler pipes! nice!! and the engine mount needs altering to get to it! which i was hoping to get away with!! annnnnnd the exhaust sounds wank! but it does go better than expected! keep me busy for a bit longer anyway!

Top job and a bloody interesting read.

I am thinking of carrying out a Gti conversion on my panel but do not like the idea of the engine being slanted over as per the diesels.

I must be a be a bit thick, but how did you reach the dimesion of the thickness for your adapotor plate?

 Thanks

Posted By: rowlesy
Date Posted: 28 Jun 09 at 08:08
well! after altering the drive plate to suit the 2e motor the tourque convertor was fed into the auto box and a measument taken between the engine and box. in my case about 14mm-so machined ring up to 15mm
