Well, dont know if its a show, but the first arctic circle vwbus meet was loads of fun. We ended up just being four syncros but thats 400 % increase in attendence from last year. Next year we'll be 16 then... We timed our meet with a gettogether for street racers and party people at arctic circle raceway but just stopped by for quick look. Too many nissan skylines, bmw m3s, toyota supras and such. But also some niceties from VAG.

Its a 57 that belong to the farm where it sits. Tis been there as long as I can remember (ca 30 yrs..).

Well its time to announce this years Nordlandstreff (bus meet in Nordland county, by the arctic circle). Date is 12- 14 june and you are all welcome. This is the plan. We'll meet in Mo i Rana (to get there, simply follow the E6 1000 kms north from Oslo). Friday 12 june we'll drive together to the coastal route (www.rv17.com). This is probably the most varied and beautiful part of Norway (local patriot speaking...). There are two national tourist roads in Nortern Norway today: Helgeland Nord og Lofoten. And if you were in doubt: Helgeland Nord is the route we are taking.  On the wilderness route is Orrhaugen farm. The make and serve local food.  From Mo i Rana we drive west towards Kilboghamn. 110 kms in grand surroundings before we reach the first ferry.     The first ferry takes us across the arctic circle and we weill get the first glimpse of the svartisen glacier.
  Three boat routes meeting.  Driving this route is a constant head-turning experience.  In Glomfjord you'll find an industrial community in between some wild mountains. Lots of roads for syncronauts in this area. And for those with stamina theres the stairs...    Map showing the hydro power plants in Glomfjord with roads.    Saltstraumen is a sound with a strong tidal current located 30 km east of the city of Bodø, Norway. The narrow channel connects the outer Saltfjord with its extension, the large Skjerstadfjord. It is the strongest tidal current in the world. Up to 400 million m³ (tonnes) of seawater forces its way through a 3 km long and 150 m wide strait every six hours, with water speeds reaching 20 knots.   Misvær. Saltdalen. Fausk. The Sulitjelma area lies against the swedish border and houses glaciers and high peaks. There is also lake Balvatn wich is 40 square km's.         ------------- Tage is my name :D Too many T3's... |

Looks like the closest is taking the boat from Harwich to Esbjerg in Denmark.

Muche, who lives in Sweden, was complaining about the high prices in Norway and I was just explaining that it is very negotiable for a couple of weeks trip and that the scenery makes up for it :D
Norwegian and Swedish (and Dansih) are very similar languages and we can (normally :D) have conversations between us. Norwegian and Dutch are also similar, but I can only understand it when I read it. ------------- Tage is my name :D Too many T3's... |

 oh, youve got some stunning scenery thats for sure, ive been to denmark, years ago, it was ok,but rained all the time, i cant see the similarity between norwegian and dutch? just a word or two here and there, like the odd english word in scandiavian languages, i speak some dutch myself, but also find reading it easier, friesland dutch is very easy for brits to learn,as its basically old english, people say were lazy only speaking one language, but if norwegian was the international language, youd be lazy too, ------------- Nearly a year without a fag ! |

Yes -boat to esbjerg and then up to Frederikshavn and second boat takes you to Oslo.
Love Norway . Been hiking there for 6 years in Sognefjord area (got family there with a cabin)

Might be too late but I just found out there IS a boat still going between England and Norway. Immingham - Brevik is the route, its a ro-ro boat and takes a day and a half... Might even be quicker to take the ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg in Denmark.
