I got all keen today at work and popped out and brought some car wax and set about giving the van a good wash down followed by my first attempt of waxing the van

Jesus H Corbett that’s a lot of van to wax

I’m now at home with my polishing arm feeling like a 15 year old boys arm when he discovers the adult channel has a free all night preview

My question is what wax polish do you use and is it worth getting a plug in polishing machine to lighten the load

I would really appreciate any suggestion for a good minimal human effort shine

Mr HH... they're great... but.

look out for that tiny speck of grit that will carefully etch your pride-n-joy and leave it looking as if an ice skater whizzed across a panel.

Get it clean, really clean or wait for bob-a-job week with the scouts and get them to do it.

HH i used to polish mine all the time with Auto Glym. Then i bought a bottle of Turtle Wax Extreme Nano-Tech wash and wax. Its that good, i've not polished since. You just add a couple of capfulls to your water. The results are amazing.

If anyones got a decent glass cleaner, i'd be interested to here though...

Snap Clonky, think we threaded this before. The Nano-tech wax is amazing stuff, especially as it's totally clear on dark colurs so no horrible white powder. Plus it smells nice! Instead of beading water it 'sheets' and lasts much longer than anything else; same technology as skyscraper windows apparently

I got something similar from CarPlan (not so good maybe, but Turtle Wax is not available in Latvia) and it also works great.

Well I brought it used it and I am well impressed £6.49 for 1 litre and its two cap full’s per 10 litres so it works out very cheap as well, the water when rinsing the van also runs off much quicker

Thanks for the advice Big smile

All I got to do now like Clonky is fine a good glass cleaner

Nano tech for me too! But, if you leave the wax for too long it seperates loads and needs alot of shaking up!

Winzur wurth active foam glass cleaner. Use twin ply paper roll, it's great stuff, even the wife uses it on mirrors & tiles indoors! It's on special at the mo, buy 12 get 12 free! You'll probably have to be in the trade or have a friend who is though. Not cheap at £7 a chuck, but it will last along time.

I have a mobile valeting business for cars and vans.  Personally i dont think you can beat the products from Autoglym.  I have a small hand held polisher/buffer which I find adds a little extra shine, but prior to this its the good old elbow grease, wax on, wax off!  I have a website which I shall be uploading soon when I get it finished, within that are some nice pics of VW's afetr having had the full treatment.  As soon as I get it finished I'll post the link.

Scareysurfer, have just ordered the Porter Cable 7420 orbital polisher with plenty of different pads, from the US, making good use of the current exchange rate. Look forward to viewing your website.

gave the beast its first wash this evening washed the roof first then all the
panels then jet washed from the roof down.there was loads of brake dust on
the wheels which was well caked on.came off with the new jet washer from
wickes which cost under £28 with a 2 years guarantee dont think you can
get better than that.looks the biz i noticed drip marks on the glass though

i use Jofs classic wax, its very good, my partners farther in law is a Director at Auto Glym, and even he admires the shine
