have to say it doesn't really matter how many good jobs someone does, if they also do bad ones too

to my mind if they do 10 good jobs and then screw one up, I personally wouldn't want them to work for me.... how do I know I'm not going to be the one that goes wrong too.

and, to be fair, everyone makes mistakes.... the real telling thing is how we deal with the situation when we get it wrong.  Do you hold your hands up and come clean or just keep digging.

I don't know anyone involved in this thread, but for me the photographs say a great deal.  By all accounts alot of the damage was already there, and there may have been no money in the job.... but I don't think Bluebays would have thought any less of the repairer if he'd have said I can't do this (he may have at the time, but not in hindsight)

van looks spot on now though, must be nice to just be over it

Having spoken to Kev at length about the "work"...(it's hard even typing that word when it's related to Kevs Cheetah!!!)...that was carried out and pictured superbly of how NOT to restore T3 Karmann(the TDi "conversion" and tie wraps holding up the intercooler is another story!!!) and the many thousands of £'s he's spent on the said "work" only to have to spend again(oh and what a top job has been done!Thumbs Up) to sort that "work" all I can say is good luck to anyone else using the same "specialist" !!!!!

Oh and when you hopefully get your van back on time and in perfect working order please don't forget to thank Kev(Bluebays) because he was obviously a guinea pig in the forming of this "specialist" company!!

Good to hear you're happy with his work Dunc but Kevs not and this thread clearly shows why.

Yes I could butt out(and probably should have) but when people appear to join the forum just to "big up" Mazz(Valley Dubs for one) I also personally felt the need to back Kev up as he's talked to me at length about the "restoration" and the TDi "conversion" and it wasn't good at all listening to it to be honest!
Yes I've only heard one side of the story but I've no reason at all to doubt what Kev told me...he just wouldn't make up this stuff plus the photos and the fact the Cheetah is in the garage again are proof enough!
Opportunities were given to Mazz to rectify the many many faults but in the end Kev has had to shell out ££££'s more again to get the faults sorted.

I've no doubt there's plenty of people happy with Mazz's work, yourself included, but the same can also be said for other companies that went down the pan because customer satisfaction wasn't their highest priority.

I have no doubt that Kev is not happy & that is between he & Mazz. If Kev feels the need to express his negative opinions of Mazz on here then it is only fair that the people who have a differing opinion are also allowed to express, isn't that the point of the forum?

Of course Dunc and you,and others, have done just that....but we'll never all agree with each other. Smile

However Kev's most recent TDi conversion "issue" is very concerning to say the least and it's definately not "Parts failure"...well parts have actually failed but it wasn't down to the manufacturing process!!

I'll leave it up to Kev to fill in the exact details of what wasn't done when it's finally been repaired...and hopefully for the last time!

For your information Steve B, I did not join the forum to 'big up Mazz'. I have read the comments and views of others on this forum for many years. I have owned my t3 for over 6 years and drive it 70 miles every day. I strongly felt the need to comment because of the way the thread has developed. I totally understand that there are issues with Bluebays but that should be between him and Mazz. I have not come on here to argue with people, I have enjoyed the many threads that people have written on here and the light humour between everyone. I just felt that the thread was going against the spirit of the forum.

i think thats a fair point / post.

my van is with Mazz at the moment...so thats my interest in this thread.
the issue between the OP and Mazz is there business.... if i had done the work ,good or bad, i would never choose to respond via a forum. (hopefully hes too busy TDi'ing my van)LOL

people are quick to make their minds up...right or wrong...and then are usually keen to defend their point. end result the OP will still end up dissapointed...and the bloke who did the work...the wrong un.

I think the people who have had a good job, with good customer service have the same right to post their views...on whichever thread....
as we all know thread discipline never happens...they always take a twist and turn.

I dont think its wise for anyone not directly involved to get too involved....but passing an opinion either way has to be fine.....its a public forum.

I genuinely hope that when Mazz completes my van ...i can post up only good comments...and tidy pictures of the work that he has done....as others have
ultimately no-one benefits from bad press, or bad feeling.....but these things happen.

Mazz could come on here himself and put over his side,Hes been given ample time to do so. And in the spirit of the forum ( For which i have been a member for years ) I think it only right that other members should be informed of shit work. I didnt actually name and shame untill asked to do so by concerned owners, probably concerned at not using the same spanner monkey....So i feel in that respect, its a public service o other forum users. Wink Job done

That's exactly why I stressed the word appear and fair enough it appears you didn't join just big up Mazz. Smile

As soon as Kev posted the photos on the 1st page it was very clear that this thread wouldn't end up as good advertising for MV Engineering because issues like these have a habit of returning and biting you on the arse if you don't address them!..

True if Mazz had sorted the issues out...he didn't hence this thread.

As promised,Garage report.

Engine and Gearbox removed from van

Collapsed and destroyed support bearnng,

Release bearing damaged beyond repair and inspection of box still to be carried out

On closer inspection,It was discovered that the flywheel had not been torqued,In fact it was loose! This of course would cause vibration and ith the knock sensor being just out of picture this is why it goes into limp mode ( Vibration) It has rattled into destruction!

Prior to these findings there where visable checks and repairs done at another garage soon after getting van back from TDi conversion,These findings included,Not getting third or fourth gear properly because Cold start cable was cut at the rear of van and wrapped around gear linkage. Cable tied fuel lines ( Leaking ) Very poor  electrical joints,ECU  Rolling about in back of van ( Not secured ) So everytime i cornered it hit the side of van. Serpentine belt tensioner bearing fucked,Numerous oil leaks And last but not least..No dipstick!
