Morning.
On a 20 minute journey home yesterday the engine started to make a bit of a racket and the buzzer of doom came on. All levels were correct and no visible signs of leaks. Oil and filter change 5 months ago and second hand oil breather tower fitted one month ago.
It will go into the garage this morning for oil pressure to be tested.
Can the oil pump just pack up without warning?
Will it be obvious that it’s the pump?
What next to look for if not the pump?
Many thanks.

pumps just tend to fail - usually wrecking everything along the way! lucky if you saved it.

Yes chap. Dead. Like the Monty Python parrot!
R/h/d Carat. Full respray 2 years ago. Gearbox rebuild just over a year ago. 170,000 on the clock. It was only a matter of time I suppose.
I know what you mean with the “crying” thing. It’s my daughters 16th tomorrow and I’ve got a face on me like a slapped arse!
Just have to take it on the chin. I’ve sourced a vege, pay for it tomorrow, it’ll be here on Thursday and my mechanic has very kindly offered to work over the weekend to get me up and running by early next week. Fingers crossed.

Cheers Simon.
Plenty of surcharge on the the old unit so it’s exchange i’m afraid.
