im have a steady oil leak when engine is running , ive found where its comming from , it leaks from a bolt on engine block on drivers side (rhd) its really hard to get any good pics to show , any ideas what the bolt is for is not holding anything and go's into the case , i tried to tighten but couldnt move it , anybody know if its for anything important before i undo it ? should it have a copper seal ?

Have you tried downloading the engine manual, might shed some light on the problem

wot about undoing it a few turns and using instant gasket or similar, leave until it goes off and then re-tighten. Don't know if I'd take it off completely unless I new it was just a blank.

Another option would be to try a product called "milliput" or similar. Basically its a 2 part epoxy putty which you would smear around like the sealant. I've used it in the past to repair fuel pumps etc. Its impervious to petrol, oil etc.
You'd need to use a degreaser/petrol etc so surface around bolt head is clean, and it sets in no time if you use a hair drier etc to warm it., or even a warm engine.

If you are still not happy post a new topic and flag it for eltee and his mates. They have access to exploded diagrams which might shed some light. I'd also post the best photo you can along with a detailed description as to location etc.
