Hi guys,

Does anyone have the current details for MV Engineering in Telford, I last spoke to Maz a week ago as he said they were moving and a fair few changes going on, could I call back Tuesday.

I've not hear back from him which might be as he has a family of 4 to keep him busy out of work but his number isn't working now.

Hoping this is him being slack.

For those of you that have been to any of the MVE unit locations, mine was the white T3 panel painted inside, outside and underneath waiting for a TDi conversion, it's been a few years now (painted start of 2016) and left with all the engine parts painted in their engine room, the painted gearbox (Aidan Tdi special)

If anyone is seeing Maz, could you please give me a gentle nudge as I'd like my van Tdi done and van back

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I’m not hiding, my workshop address is thaton my page, as that’s where I am. Once move is complete all will be informed
Be sure to get the full story of this van before commenting, Matt essentially did his van himself as a none paying customer, and the whole job has had very little to do with my company,
Get the full story then feel free to comment as appropriate.

Maz gave me a call today which is great.

Post is not intended to be something to hassle any members / business on, it was just hoping someone could give him a gentle nudge. I've known Maz for years and there is only one of him with lots of people trying to get a piece of his time (I'm no different), I can only guess that as we've known each other for a while he was so laid back about it that it got to the point I needed to post up.

Maz is correct that I've restored the van myself, it is waiting for a TDi and just has a deposit and a load of bits.

I'll look forward to an MV Tdi, I think it is worth the wait as he work is excellent.

Won’t go into it to much had the tdi conversion done 4 years ago after a while a whine from the gearbox started I was told from mve I will get a replacement foc, two years after this statement and many f words I had to get the gearbox rebuild at a local gearbox specialist at a cost of £2000 which is a big hit in anyone’s pocket and has left an open wound needless to very I’m pissed about the whole thing

I need to put a few rumours to rest especially as I'm getting customers ringing/emailing me on this topic more than it needs to be.
Towards the end of last year, Mario and his 3 techs came over to work for my business/company over on Atcham Business Park. (CEVL Ltd / Central England Automotive).
Contrary to what was muted at the time, this wasn't part of any merger. Maz was in trouble financially and I was helping him and his lads out. I've known Maz for a good few years and have been around VW's over half of my life and am 50 shortly so not new to this scene, far from it, and I've run our local VW club since 1995...
There were a number of ongoing projects/restorations/engine conversions that I/we had basically bank rolled where possible to get them finished for the customer.
I've taken on 2 of his tech's (Daz and John), and they now have secure full time jobs at my garage.
We have 5 sets of ramps and 2 flat bays and operate from a very modern and tidy 10,000 sq ft unit over on Atcham Business Park. All our techs are VW enthusiasts as is our workshop manager James Shelvey who owns an early split, an early bay, and a '65 Beetle.
Over the past few weeks, to cut a long story short, things have come to a head and Mario is no longer working with us and has no ties to myself or my business. If you need to contact him, you still can on his mobile or via his Facebook page.
What I do need to point out as it doesn't sit well with me at all, is there there are a number of customers vans in various states of repair which are now in limbo and this people may or may not be aware of what is going on with their vans. I know some of them have been there for a few years already. Given recent events, I cannot see these getting done any time soon and I urge anyone who has a van in for work with Mario, that they make contact to find out what the position is.
There are no customers vehicles outside or inside our workshop which have nothing to do with us.
We operate very differently, our core business is Vehicle logistics and transportation and move approx 30,000 vehicles for the motor trade and have been awarded Enterprise Rent a Car transport company of the year. We've built up a good reputation over the past few years of building up the garage side of the business and are keen for this side of it to grow. We have another tech joining our team on Monday. Time served, highly trained, an MOT tester and yes, he owns a T3! (it's part of the selection process!)
You can see details of our workshop etc over on our Facebook page

I'm all sorted (mostly)...
my concern however is for those who are not...
and are probably oblivious as to what has gone on, and where their van is...
It doesn't sit right with me at all, and as much as I need/want to distance myself from the whole thing, the bottom line is if it was my van, then I'd want to know the truth as to where it is, what state it's in, and most importantly, when am I going to get it back...

Just been directed to this, so let's start with the easy bit.
Over the course of the last 6 years of running my business I have completed over 75 TDi engine conversions, around 32 on T3s the rest on T4s and we had over 2000 vans through our workshop, so when Dave AKA stretch complains about his gearbox failing, the only part of the build that actually has nothing to do with me it really has no reflection on the work we do anyway, and if it did, then considering the amount of work that went through the door, I hardly see it as relevant, or cause for any criticism.
If anyone works for a business that produces a product which has 0 comebacks, please let me know as I'm all ears.
I have worked for dealerships which have sent out brand new cars that have broke down within 5 miles of leaving shop, so if VW or BMW can't get it 100% right how am I meant too.
So to the main sticking point
My companie fell into very hard times last year due to outgoings I.e rent, rates, insurance, utilities virtually doubling over the course of 2 years, normally when a company owner finds himself in this situation they would simply close the doors, I could not walk away from lease as I was tied into it, and in addition I still had a years worth of work in my shop, with restoration work, this made it impossible for me to find a easy solution to the fact we had started to loose money, I rode it out as long as possible with having to find £3600 per month to cover outgoings, this went from £1600, it was not easy and the stress of it all was overpowering.
Last October I approached CEVL about taking on work load, obviously not what I wanted after spending the previous 6 years building a strong brand, but my choices were limited, they had a near empty building so my equipment and staff simply transferred to his shop, with the idea being for myself to complete as much MV work in progress, with all new bookings going through CEVL. I rode this out for 6 months but for me it was not working, I was still financially struggling but on a personal level this time as I was still spending most my time organising and very little time completing WIP which was were my income was to come from, I received no payout for my business, no lump sum so apart from cost of workshop equipment purchased I personally had no capital.
As a result of this I ended up working 7 days a week and doing lots of after hours work to try and keep my head above water completing original WIP work, this proved exhausting and I made a simple decision to leave CEVL and to reastblish my self on my own again, which is what I have now done, this left me able to concentrate on completing any WIP, and reastablish myself on my own, it's not been a easy year to date, and I am in a temporary workshop for the next 3 months while I make sure I find a small workshop with low outgoings that enables me to not have to work 7 days a week 12 hours a day just to keep my head above water, I have two options available to me so I should be in my permanent workshop in the next two months.
Any customers with WIP are having there vans completed first, and as I don't have to run a full workshop any more, I am finding myself in a position were things are moving along very nicely. And with each day a little more weight is lifted from my shoulders.

So in short, yes my business went into voluntary liquidation, end of last year, CEVL Have competed or are completing any work we did not really start, while I complete work we did start, with any customers who have there vans with me all getting there work completed by myself.
The future for me is keep it small, Ido not want to endure this amount of stress in my working carrel again, it's been tough on my customers and myself, but all are aware of current situation and what I am doing to make sure WIP is completed to the standards they expect from me.

I’m glad mazz thinks £2000 is irrelevant and I’m still pretty pissed with him and his gearbox sidekick this problem eventually led me to selling the joker at least I’m rid of this whole thing
