LT35 Engine swop?

Hi Everyone
New member here, my daughters LT 35 1980 Horse box has caught fire.I have two options,repair the engine,mainly pipes and wires,or replace it with a Diesel? Has anyone got any info on engine swops? If I do repair the wiring where can I get a new loom?

	Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum. Problem with older LT's is that the engine bay is different to later ones so the only diesel that fits is a 4cyl perkins. Aweful bloody thing. Anything can be fitted but it's a lot of work modifying the chassis, lining up the engine, gearbox & diff etc. If you have a look in Tech Manuals (Tech Section) there are wiring diagrams which may help, but I don't know of a supplier for a new loom. 	Thanks Andy l have also heard that the Montego engine fits,but don't know if there is an adapter plate available? otherwise it's a Sherpa gearbox which will probably have linkage issues. I think I'll have to bit the bullet and repair the petrol engine,it's just that when it was running it really struggled. Steve

	An AEL might fit, it certainly does in the later LTs.
