Cheers Zub. Would need a bigger table than that LOL. Did some more. Paneled the window seat

Put on some brackets to support the bed

Making the bed out of seperate pieces to allow it to be stored easily

Cut out the bracket on the door seat

Sealed the area round the vents for the fridge

Put the fridge in and panelled around it

Made a top cover for the door seat

More tomorrow

Last bit for this year. Most of the work I did today was finishing bits and altering stuff. This is where the cooker will live. The cutout on the front corner of the worktop is to allow another set of Seitz blinds to be fitted.

I also cut out the holes for the sink and taps. Still to plumb and wire them.

More in 2012

Cheers Ian, all the best to you as well. Did the first bit of 2012 today. Mounted the rear Radio CD Player and my boat fuse panel.

Hinged the access door to the front

Put the rear side window blind up

Put brackets in for the table

More tomorrow

Cheers

I'm absolutely loving following this progress.
I'm also in the north east and a 91lt35 owner. I'd love to pop over some time and have a closer look at your designs.......
Maybe pick your obviously competent brains on some?

Glad you're enjoying it Richard. Of course you can have a look over, send me a PM when you're available and I'll see what I can sort out.

Todays contribution. Put one of 2 fans in, not the best weather today for them, other ones for the front.

Also made most of the cabinet to go round the cooker, needs a bit more trimming, screwing together and a top making

Hopefully more next week

Cheers

This is a great thread and your doing a good job. Just a thought and by no means a criticism, during hot weather when the fridge is working hard and you want the door open, will you not get problems with condensation etc on the inside of the sliding door? or is this something you can get over.
Keep up the good work and the pictures coming.

Cheers for the question Dave, all comments are gratefully received. It is something I thought about when doing the layout and as usual it's all a compromise. I've tried to allow for the fridge heat to be taken into account. If it's a hot day and the door has to be closed, there are 2 sliding windows in with fly screens over them, internal fans and I'm going to put a roof fan in. When the door is partly closed to the end of the door seat, the exhaust vent is clear of the door and there is still access to the inside.

Did some more today. Finished the fabrication around the cooker and made a top for it.

Did the gas pipes for the water heater ansd cooker

Put the gas on/off taps in

Moved the generator to the back of the van, saves having to shuffle it around when I do any work

More next week

Cheers

More done today. Started on the 12v electrics. Wired the leisure batteries to the fuse panels

Had one of those days when I did a lot but there doesn't seem to be much to see. Wired up the radio/ CD multi disc changer and connected to front speakers (will fabricate mounts later)

The rest of today was taken up refitting the panels I removed to install the wiring and tidying the van up.

More tomorrow.

Cheers

I know the feeling only too well! But at least you'll still have the satisfaction yourself knowing what you've done.

I know what you mean Mat but it still seems like not much was done. Think there will be a few more days like that to come, what with the plumbing and wiring to finish.

Last bit for this week. Filled both sides abovef the worktop at the back of the camper

Installed a different light inside the cupboard (the LED strip wouldn't stick properly)

Fastened down the CD multi disc changer properly

More next week weather permitting

Cheers

just thinking about putting the rubber mounted windows in my LT35. Is it safe just to get rid of the bars running length ways down the van wall (thinking that the window will do the same job)? Or should i replace them with wooden supports? Thought you might know as you made a good job of yours.

Great progress by the way. kev

Thanks Kev. I don't pretend to be any sort of expert but I'll tell you what I learned as I installed them. Firstly I suppose it depends on what size your windows are going to be. The ones I put in were fairly big. When I cut the holes out for the windows, I was suprised at how thick the steel actually is. I take it this is what yours looks like now, ignoring the insulation ( and all the mess LOL )

When I cut the horizontal bars, if my memory serves, I found they were only glued on for most of the length, only tacked at the ends. Not sure if they are there only for tying off loads but I don't think they are a structural part of the van. The windows I put in, which are mounted in aluminium fames, were from an old LT and that also had those struts missing. This is with the windows just pushed in.

I did add wooden bracing but that was more to get fairly level sides to work on inside than anything structural.

One piece of good advice I was given and will pass on is

No problems Kev. Let us know how you get on if you go ahead (preferably with pics)

Did a bit today, also did a little bit last week. The other day I bought a Fiamma turbo vent fan and assembled it into the housing ready to put in at a later date.

Done nearly all the plumbing, moved the water pump, just the tap to wire up and connect to the water pipes

Plumbed and wired in the Carver water heater. Also wired in the water containers

Made a mount for the waste water tank

Put it loosely in place, will finish that tomorrow

Also mounted the battery charger

Cheers

Finished mounting the waste water container

Fitted a reversing camera

The image from it

And also fitted a rear view camera

The image from it

The camera wires need fitting from the back to the front and connecting to the monitor which will fit over the rear view mirror

Also fitted high level indicators / side lights / brake lights

Fitted the wiring to the new lights and fed it down the inside of the back doors, just need to connect it all up to the main lights

Now to thaw out LOL

More next week

Cheers

More today. Wired the high level lights to the main lights

Today I fitted the locking piece for the back door. It was incidentally listed as fitting a T2 as well, the silver bit for a 72 model and the black bit for a 68 - 74 model. Handy this cross fitting of bits by VW Clap

Fully in ( this was missing when I got the van )

Started making a lockable storage area above the front seats

More tomorrow

Finished the storage area above the front seats. Put the additional two front speakers in and fastened in the headlining.

Also fastened in the sink tap and plumbed it in. Just needs filling with water and testing.

Used red pipe for the cold water as well and put tape on to distinguish it. There was a shortage of blue pipe up here when I bought it.

The generator needs a couple of bits replacing so will need to get that sorted ( parts on order) before I move on to some of the next jobs.

More in a couple of weeks.

Cheers
