As it was a nice day today I decided to do a bit more. Changed the anti freeze then had a little drive round the compound

Then onto the inside. I've decided to change the seating from this (L shape and 1 corner seat)

to a bench and 2 corner seats.

I had to move the clean water container back about a foot to accommodate the new arrangement.

I'm going to attatch a table to the side wall between the seats at a later date. Will also add a couple of folding panels to make the base of the bed.

Then the van went undercover.

The beauty of this one is I can unzip one side and still get in the sliding door to work on it

All wrapped up snug for the winter

More soon hopefully

Cheers

No mate. I have more than enough space inside the van. It's like a tardis inside. Going to put a bike rack on the back though fastened to one of the doors.

Cheers

[QUOTE=BigAl68] Thanks Ian. Your van was the inspiration for the boarding out inside the back doors.

it's sure nice to have a boot, ideal for keeping the muddy and messy shite out of the van.

is it going to get the Big Ass treatment too Al Wink

Hi Steve. Glad you are enjoying it. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately there's nothing new to add. What with my shifts at work and Wifey deciding the house could do with a lick of paint I haven't got down there. Got some lights and other bits & pieces for when I do get some more done.

Didn't bother getting the MOT done just yet because if I insure the van, I have 3 months to complete the conversion and get an engineers report to them, and that ain't going to happen this time of year. Got quotes from several insurers and the 3 that I spoke to all said the same thing.

So it will be the odd day as and when depending on the weather (bearing in mind this is the North East of England) so I don't hold out too much hope (had a 6 month break last year). Anything that does get done will of course be put on here.

Cheers

The outside, obviously LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL. Just started doing it while I was waiting for the windscreen guy and was amazed at the difference. Obviously I will gain at least an extra 1 mph by the time I'm finished because the van is much more streamlined TongueTongueTongueTongueTongue LOLLOLLOL

Due to circumstances beyond my control the windscreen was only removed yesterday. When it was taken out there was a bit of rot there and the window guy suggested fixing it first otherwise I would end up with a damp camper. Took the opportunity to clear any other rot near the screen and on the front panel.

Also finished fitting new middle seat belt

Fitted 2 new front indicators and wiring

Sorted out holes in the back bumper

And cleaned some of the roof

The new windscreen will be fitted tomorrow. Will see it when I come home from work. More next week

Cheers

Just been down to the where the camper is stored (Alan Reed Ltd) and they have ordered a new windscreen to be fitted tomorrow. The old one has a couple of chips and a small crack in it. The new screen didn't cost much more to buy than it would have to fix the chips. Back on it next week.

Did more bodywork yesterday and today. Still needs final filler layer and sanding down. An anonymous black car valiantly donated one of its wings so I could repair the ends of the wheel arches Clap.

Also fitted a rain guard to the top of the awning

And got myself a canny wheel clamp

Thats it again for a few weeks

Cheers

Did the drivers side this afternoon.

The green stuff is Hammerite anti rust gel. Coated everything in anti rust paint before I left. Still got some fibreglassing to do on both of the bottom of the passenger side wheel arches.

Will do some more next week, weather permitting.

Cheers

Cheers Mat and Camperdog.

I've decided to go down a slightly different route for the time being and am going to do the bodywork so the it can have an MOT. Going to get a class 7 test as it seems I can't reclassify it as a camper. Once it's on the road then I'll be able to fetch it up home and work on it there without working to the time constraints I'm under at the moment Angry. Next years test will be a class 4 at a garage round the corner. A bit of what I did today (generator is spot on again Clap)

and some of the horror bits

Obviously still a way to go, hopefully more tomorrow

Cheers

I have to say that personally I like the ability to open up the rear doors on a nice sunny evening...

But that's the beauty of doing your own van conversion - you can build it exactly the way you want it without having to go with whatever the designer think will suit 90% of the market.

I'm enjoying watching your work in progress Allan!

i like the awning.  think the rear kitchen is a nice idea, not sure what its like to live with, with no access at the rear, although i guess it wouldnt be used much.

Hi Jimmy. Got them both off eBay from a caravan breaker. Fly ( and midge LOL) screens and blackout blinds in one. They are made by Seitz blinds.
