Whilst taking a gander at T4sRUS looking for bottom rollers (no not a forum for gay men but for my side door ) I found some new long nose proper RHD replacement headlights, complete with Audi LEDs ... Thensilver ones look better to me but they only list the black ones. Either way the point may be irrelevant as they aren't current in stock (says to ring to get them on back order) and a bit pricey at £299 a pair, but have been looking for new headlights for some time. Did anyone go of these while they were in stock? Any view on the quality? T4sRUS RHD Long Nose Headlights |

From what I've read they don't give out a great deal of light on dipped beam.

Better Bulbs such as Philips X-Treme or Osram Nightbreakers (I think) & Headlight wiring loom mod. Plenty of kits on Flea Bay. Check out the threads on a Former Pay per view Channel Edited by Desp Dan - 08 Jan 12 at 19:44 |

Heard some good reports about this kit ... looks like I might be getting one too given the comments ref the alternatives ... don't want to drop £300 on something that is up to the job or poor quality ... shame |

What really annoys me is that the glass adds a yellowish tinge to the look during the day (next to the clear indicator fittings I have) and then the lights don't seem that bright at night ... also want the Audi LED look but they would have to be quality units.
The after market units I like have the headlights and indicators all as one unit

I like the look of these but are they for a LHD or RHD?

Cheers dusty ... Here's a fixed link to the main page Angel eyes
Windy ... It says Most of the FK angel eyes have a unique dual purpose switch on the back of the light. This switch allows you to set the beam pattern for either RHD (UK Spec) or LHD (EU Spec). This means if you ever take your car abroad you can simply change the beam pattern at a flick of a switch to suit the new driving conditions. Sounds like a good solution and don't look bad ... Pretty good price, would like to see them in the flesh Also, doesn't say they are for long nose ... Edited by sm4rt - 10 Jan 12 at 21:37 |

That sounds like it might just flatten the beam rather than truly change the beam pattern to be properly compliant for LHD or RHD. This means you lose the kick-up on the passenger side of the road which is designed to illuminate road signs, drunk pedestrians, animals about to wander out in front of you etc. Also not particularly unique IIRC ( I think my Skoda has it on it's std headlights). My posting skills are a little lacking. On the website they are listed as switchable LHD/RHD. You can do a search when navigating the website which confirms them as long nose, also the shape of them and the indicator is long nose. I've seen a set on a van and think they look neat, good price and beleive the quality to be good, and been told the light emitted from them is also good. Although I've not seen them in action, or used a set in the dark.

I've had another look on the website and you're right it does not confirm them as long nose, it just says 97-02. The bus I saw them on was Long nose and they deffo look long nose to me.

Right chaps and chappets ... time to ressurect this thread and in a way it's similar to the one I noticed chappy has also been discussing (but didn't want to hijack his thread here http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/benders_topic73129.html )
Now ... I noticed that the headlights that we discussed above had been reduced in price at the manufacturers uk webiste ( http://www.carparts-tuning.co.uk/en/Lighting-Tuning/Headlight-All-lights-are-LHD-unless-stated-otherwise/Angel-Eye-headlight-suitable-for-VW-Bus-Typ-T4-Yr-97-02-chrome.html ) Now although it did warn that 'all headlights are LHD unless otherwise stated' I thought that £122 was just too tempting (plus the Venom site sells the same part number where it says they are switchable - so might be ok) So they turned up last week and I can confirm three things 1. they are great quality, nice clear glass front, metal reflectors and generally feel well made 2. they also come with replacement clear indicators (although these are plastic - still good quality) 3. they are fricking LHD only ... with no switch A close up .... So I have the option of sending them back for a refund or trying to mod them in some way, as I would only put them on if they were road legal and pass an MOT I really don't want to send them back ... so what to do??? After a bit of research I think I have the following options 1. use RHD beam blockers ... like the ones europeans would use if they came to the uk ... checking the MOT website it says as long as they are positioned correctly and block the left hand drive kick up to the right, they can pass a uk mot - but they would spoil those lovely clear lenses and sort of defeat the object 2. cut out the LHD dip beam refleactor and replace with a 'projector style RHD unit' from another set of lights (the bullet lens style) - I'm not too keen on this and some people say they are a bit weak 3. try to block the right hand kick some other way to give a flat beam - which is also MOT acceptable ... they seems to be two ways that others have achieved this. First is to solder an additional piece of tin on to the centre bulb cover - see below where I think I'd need to experiment with adding a small shield The second possibility would be to get some heat resistant paint to block of the obvious flat section of the reflector that provides the kick - again probably wouldn't need to take it all out, just enough to flatten the beam ... like this So I have made the decision I'm going to keep them and have a play - will post back any updates/ results from testing at the weekend, but what do people think? Any other ideas? |

They are cool as, but I noticed Baxter has a set fitted to his van,and he confirmed that they are LHD only. Pity other wise I'd have a set by now
