just got a kkk k14 secondhand from a certain online auction site ,
seller said perfect condition , so pick it out box and the housing seems to have a lot of play so much so that at certain angles the impeller blades on exhaust side are rubbing the casting inside
is this the norm ,is it just bolt up pipes, hoses on and it will aline |

Usually axial play is what you have to worry about, quite a bit radial play is normal, but not so much that the impeller hits the housing.
Yours might be good for a rebuild unfortunately. |

play in the shaft seems fine its the outer casing where they join together 6 bolts 3 c shape brackets you can move the intake casing to the exhaust by a good 5mm seems loose , is that normal ,when running turbo gets hot the join seals or do you think rebuild for sure

Tighten up the bolts, they are loose to allow rotation on
The inlet and outlet to line them up properly |

WHS ^^^ bolts are loose to allow the turbo to be re-indexed to fit on the JX manifold.
But there should be much play in the actual turbo vane bearings. The good turbos I've had have had minimum movement in either direction. |

so the two housings should float together when everything is fitted on the two parts should seal and aline together, but i can honestly move them a good 5mm , 6 bolts are tight
