I wouldnt say mine was that fast!

If i cruise at 65-70 then the worst i have got is 19MPG. The best i have got is 28MPG which involves never breaking past 60.

I definitely do have to take it out of top gear for hills!

I have the same ACL engine as you so it should be the same! Maybe its because my van is full of crap!

Hi Ringo it was Empty but it pulls well i supose on motorway you are getting a run at the hills but at no point did i have to drop a gear and still had Acceleration to pass HGV,s etc i was really surprized as i was expecting it to be slower than my T3

Seems to be about 22.5 mpg, which I would say is impressive for that performance. My naturally aspirated 2.4D Florida, ie heavy and at full load all the time, does between 22.5 and 29 mpg, depending upon driving style and conditions, av 25 or thereabouts. Bear in mind the boondocks Western Welsh terrain and the 4 mile hard climb upto our base.

Mine's a LT28 6cyl diesel, non turbo, it will sit comfortable at 55/60mph, if i hit an incline it will drop right down & take some getting back up. For overtaking only milk floats in my case Embarrassed

Depends which engine you have of course, generally speaki.g, the later the year, the more power you get, up to about 110hp.

No, terry bug ours doesn't like hills either - in fact, we find hills which we've not noticed before, even in the T3 !!! We're happy though, didn't buy Inga-truck for speed.

the turbo has plenty of go and is not slow, if its not worn out, its the dreaded non turbo that are slow, talking about the later 6 pot diesels.

Hi...I have just bought a Florida 1994 2.4D  which is in top condition and I love- the engine seems to run really well...it is not fast, I seem to sit chilling in the slow lane (but that is quite nice not to be in a hurry..) I seem to be able to cruise well at 100kmph (62mph) tbh not sure I want to go faster as it moves in the wind - feels a little bit unnerving..I need to change down going up hills...

Whilst we are chatting - I am off abroad for a couple of months and someone told me to put a disconnector (discarnect) on all the batteries, I have bought a Richbrook one for the chassis battery and i have ordered 2 more for the leisure batteries - will I need 2 for them?

Thanks for any tips...

Regarding the battery isolators, it depends how the leisure batteries are wired. They are probably connected together and then to the fuse box/distribution panel, in which case one will do the job. If for some reason each battery has a separate feed to the fuse box etc then you need one isolator in each feed.

BUT, if nothing is drawing current from the leisure batteries then an isolator won't help. They will still go flat in time as batteries do 'self discharge' in storage, so benefit from a top up every now and again.

It will probably only have the clock drawing current from the main battery, so that together with self discharge may be enough to flatten it in a couple of months. Personally I'd fit one to the main battery and not to the leisure batteries unless there is something taking current from them.

Thanks Mat for your advice - I will check it out and find out how they are wired..I was planning on totally cutting of any supply to the main battery and not fusing it so that any clocks etc work...might check again later with u if ok? Cheers!

If this is what you're thinking of using

then yes, you need to remove the fuse to prevent battery drain. But without the fuse the clock etc WON'T work (I assume that's what you mean above?)

My Florida is good for 80mph, and do 70+ up anything but steep hills. It's very different from when I got it, when the  turbo wasn't working.

I keep meaning to time it from 0-60.

Our Florida does 0-60: sometimes..... We didn't buy her for speed, we don't do speed. However, along with my daughter's family's Florida, she is shortly embarking upon an 1800 mile tour of Denmark, Germany, Holland and Belgium, including the VW museum at Wolfsburg.

Great road trip.

We discovered Amsterdam last year, well worth a look . I can thoroughly recommend Zeeburge Campsite.
