I have a static ip - no extra costs involved.

Doesn't need to be a paid hotmail account to send and receive with outlook. (I use them, as do my mother and my daughter)Wink

i doubt you'll get an identifiable IP address off a hotmail email account anyway.  you'll just get one of several IPs used by hotmail's mailservers.

as regards feedback itself, i agree with Tee3 - i used to worry about ever losing my 100% record, but lately i've come to the conclusion its pretty much irrelevant.  i think people either:

* ignore feedback or dinnae understand the concept
i see high money items all the time, being sold by people with dozens of atrocious feedbacks; "item never arrived", "item was a fake" - yet people are still bidding on their stuff.  similarly, lots of people seem quite happy to bid on high money items from people with new accounts and no feedback at all

or...

* use the feedback in an informed [OK - nerdy] way
i'm in this camp.  OK - i'd probably not bid on an item if someone's feedback is down in the eighty % region.  but, with anything above about 95%, i'll click through and read the detailed feedback on whatever negs that seller has got.  quite a lot of the time i find myself still buying from a seller with the odd neg, if their comments show they're polite/apologetic/helpful [as appropriate] in acknowledging a problem or helping sort things out.

what will make me run a mile is when the seller gets abusive in response to a neg:

BUYER "goods never arrived"
SELLER "fucking idiot. does not know how the postal service works"

in those cases i just think "woah! - you're *really* the kind of person i want to be dealing with, if something goes wrong!"

so long and short of it - dinnae stress too much about an isolated neg. those who dinnae understand the feedback system willnae even notice it.  those who do will judge you more on how you respond to it.

[oh dear - you didnae call the buyer a 'scamming bastard' in your feedback comments, did you? ]

i informed ebay that i was looking into the ebay user myself.

they have changed their tune now.. have removed the feedback from the "new" ebay account and are now saying they will consider removing the first lot..

it may seem like too much effort to some but for the money ebay charge (it seems to be getting more expencive) i want them to work for once...

in this perticular situation the ebay user twice cost me money, wasted my time and thought he could hide behind ebay.. oh and he has left bad feedback for 3 more people in the last week..
twice he has not even had the item..

WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough

I once spent quite a lot of time gathering evidence that showed a guy who was bidding againsy himself to raise the prices on things he was selling. Shill bidder they call it. I sent all the info to ebay and they did nothing about it. The guy was still doing it long after. I just gave up.

He is trying to prove to Ebay that the two supposedly different people are one and the same.

theres lots of things you could  do, but what will you achieve?

I'd just report it to ebay as malicious, they can and do remove it... if it becomes a problem (if he repeats it) then take it further.

I certainly wouldnt waste any of my life on this guy. Negative feedback means very little. As long as your feedback is mostly good, most people will see through the negatives, especially if you respond to them with level headed comments like "no contact, leaves bad feedback for entertainment" or something...

IP address wont tell you much anyway, possible the town he lives in, but not even that in many cases

I wouldn't bother contacting ebay, as a seller you get nothing from them. They always take the buyers side in any argument. Thats my experience after getting bumped on several occasions.

I can't think how you can deal with the scrot, sorry.

I seeeeee!

If there are any auctions for either account create a couple of gmail addresses and ask a question to the two email addresses that you have for him. Then if you get any response to them you will be able to get the email headers which will give you the ip addresses (unless he is using gmail) - you never know you may get lucky.

Have you googled his email addresses?

i have a direct e-mail address for both "different" user accounts.

if i can show ebay that both of the accounts have the same ip address then it forces their hand
at the moment they are hiding behind "user privacy" controls.

Ebay are aware of the extortion racket going on whereby people are being threatened with negative feedback unless they send free goods or pay money etc. This is particularly worrying if you are a business seller (as we are) and have a large 100% feedback rating - it only takes one malicious shit to spoil it.

This has got worse since they changed the rules so you cant give a buyer negative FB, all the pressure is on the seller.

The sooner you start communication with Ebay when you feel this might be happening the better. Remember its you as the seller that pays the fees to list items - you are where their revenue comes from and without decent sellers Ebay wouldn't have a business

Google his original Ebay user name. Most people tend to use the same user name for quite a few websites.
I find that usually helps me.
