just went out to van i have no spare wheel but i have a locking nut opener
whats going on.is this a design fault or what.there is a huge bolt that is
done up tight on the left hand side that has not been touched.so the holder
is dead tight with no movement in it whatso ever .i was given a long bolt and
a nut opener that you use for unlocking wheels.the other hole has nothing in
it.i do remember seeing a black spinning plastic nut cover .which aint there
any more

Bloody hell, that's bad luck mate.  Mine is as you describe.  I was told that it would be secure as supplied with locking (spinning plastic) nut but I'm nervous now.

Sorry to hear your news though, it's a real pain and all because of some f**king chav type.

hand side i was given i long bolt and a nut opener in a bag.i paid for a
security bolt so how come my wheel is gone.i noticed on top of the long bolt
theres is a small clip that rotates which seems to serve no function.i do
remember seeing a black plastic nut or maybe a nut cover.this is a crap
design if you can nick these wheels i am stuffed if i am going to spend
another £200 to get nicked again

I know on my old t4 the long bolt was just there to hold the wheel tray in place (using a key shaped hole in the tray) once you'd lifted the tray up then used the short bolt to secure it.  Not sure how it is with the new one

yes i have a t4 also they didnt nick that wheel.i was sure there was a black
plastic nut that spun round somewhere.i think it may have been where the
other security bolt should be.it does not make sense the bracket has no
give in it whatsoever where the bolt lookes as tight as it will go.who is going
to saw through a bolt drop the wheel then tighten it back up fully.i am
miffed and pissed off what the point in paying for a wheel lock that doesnt
work

No help at all with a new van i know, but as my front tyres wore out, i had the tyre off the spare brought into play, and a just legal one put on the spare. It means there is nothing worth nicking, and that a new tyre isnt going to go past its best sitting on the spare. Hope the police take a greater interest than they did when my van was keyed.

Really strange Gason. The security bolt is about a tenner from vw. Not much good if the wheel can be removed by anyone with the correct tool. Let us know how you get on, we are all vunerable on this. Perhaps there is a solution that someone knows about ?

I'm just waiting for some thieving git to nick mine - I 'kerbed' it on a protruding rock in a narrow lane in Wales and badly dented the rim...

Sorry to ask but was the wheel there to start with, why would someone undo it get the wheel, then spend time and making noise bolting it all back in place “All the time running the risk of getting caughtConfused” when theyW4nker could of just been legging it with your new wheel

Jumped Ship to a Vito but I hear a 2021 T6 calling, only real difference is the Vito cab is more car like.

Seems strange to me as well. I had the spare pinched off an old clio. All they had to do was bend the catch in order to drop the spare wheel cage and leg it with the wheel. The cage was left hanging down on the ground.

I reckon you hit the nail on the head there HH !!.

I agree with Clonky about the spare. I had mine replaced the week i picked the van up. The local tyre people had a " just legal " tyre of a similar size.

The tyres for these vans are a lot of dosh.

That's made me laugh HH. The sales guy was all over me like a rash until i paid the deposit, and then it was, " Mr. who ?? ".

Once you've bought the van, " MR." turns into " Mate ", and " Sorry, you need to speak to the service department about that " !!!.
