I need a new coil and there are two different ones on Vagcat for my engine (LT35, 1989, 2.4 carb petrol, DL engine code). The part numbers are 171905115 and 171905115A and my chassis number is WV2ZZZ29ZKH024446. From my understanding of the codes given on Vagcat the part number 171905115A is the coil for my van but i'm not 100% sure. Could someone who knows a bit more about these things check for me?
I'm sorry I can't post the Vagcat chassis codes as I can't get onto Vagcat, it keeps on coming up Oops! Internet Explorer could not find www.vagcat.com. Perhaps someone could also explain why I have so much trouble getting on the site, I keep on registering but I don't get a confirmation e-mail? Is it because i've a Hotmail address?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Same thing happened to me last week.
The registration email went to spam. I had been in looking before I activated my account. Afterwards I could not get back in. Check your spam folder, or whatever it is in IE. 'Chrome would not go so I tried Firefox then they both worked.' Chris

I've tried to register a dozen times but I never get the e-mail. I check the junk box but it never arrives?
I'm desperate for the coil, my vans playing up something rotten. Being lpg it makes it worse as theres more strain on the electrical system. I've got all new parts all but the coil. You couldn't do me a favour and get the reference chassis numbers for the two part numbers 171905115 and 171905115A. It's a 1989 van and the part numbers are the two different coils, 5 and 5a iirc.

not sure if this is going to be any help or not, unless the >>>F-28-E-020-500 and the F-28-E-020-501>>> refers to the chassis No's e.g. up to and from. from vagcat VVVVVV

Its not much help to you right now but if you are still unsure you could give TPS a ring when they re-open on Wednesday. They shoud be able to tell you the part number from your reg and model of your van.
BTW I have had the same problem with vagcat for the past few weeks. I never got the confirmation email and couldnt see the images which was a nightmare. Good luck

Thank you all for your help. BeJay that is exactly what I was after. From my understading of the chassis numbers (WV2ZZZ29ZKH024446 ?) I need the A coil. I checked the bosch website as i'm sure they were the original equipment suppliers. They only list one coil for my year LT and that was the A coil as well. They don't make them anymore but Mister Auto had one in stock so I ordered it.
The trouble with the LT's is they have ballast resistors and I can't find any detailed information on which models have them, which don't and what type they are. From my understanding they can be a seperate item or sometimes one of the wires to the coil is the actual resistor. Because my van is running on lpg I need to get the right coil.
