Hi all,
l am about to undertake fitting the golf clocks in my T3 which is running a golf gti agg engine. l have sorted out all the wiring I have ordered an afaptor from German which plugs into the t3 loom) but am intrigued as to how to get them to physically fit. has anyone done this or found a good source of information? i think a link or some good photos would be perfect. thanks, Steve

Can give details of the adaptor, I've got a set of Passat clocks and may go the same way.
It's been done but the only website I know has very few details. You may have to move or fit a different servo as the space is tight. http://t3-infos.de/t3-infos_a.html#amp this is the only site that I have found. Here's a, badly, translated forum thread with some information about fitting Audi A4 instruments - http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=www2.vwbus-online.org/forum/board_entry.php%3Fid%3D329837%26da%3DDESC%26page%3D0%26order%3Dtime%26descasc%3DDESC%26category%3Dall&ei=azUuT7mxNYqB4ASg2tSpDg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CDMQ7gEwAg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Draimund%2Bt3%2Ba4%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENXX254%26prmd%3Dimvns Edited by Titus A Duxass - 05 Feb 12 at 07:56 |

I did it on my bus, but i used the golf fuse box and so it just plugs in using the original golf wiring that was extended same for the engine.

Hi
link It is 39 euros delivered. He also sels a pulse converter so you can get your speed to 0.2% accuracy with a gps - 89 euros. It is the same guy who makes the vs which sits in the back of the speed. Jonox, The wiring side is not a problem - i would like to see where and what you cut, did you have to move the brake fluid reservoir like this guy? http://shufti.wordpress.com/2010/01/04/frank-g-s-modified-instrument-cluster/# Any photos would be great. Thanks, Steve Edited by fufflenarnia - 05 Feb 12 at 21:55 |

"On the master cylinder reservoir interference issue … it was in the way and I wanted to maintain the visual angles, so I took it out! I then used a master cylinder reservoir from a ’90′s Mazda pickup. It comes (from your local P&P yard) with a remote mounting bracket. I rotated it so the long axis is parallel to the windshield long axis. It comes with a built-in level sensor that I wired into the VW harness. I can’t remember if the vanagon originally came with the level sensor built in of if I added it to the vanagon reservoir and modded the harness years ago. For the inlet lines to master cylinder, I believe I used the plastic barb adaptors from a Super Beetle. I use an inline T to tap off the clutch feed. I mounted the reservoir in the same general area as the original Vanagon unit and aligned the inlet so that the plastic drip shield fit again (anal-retentive, I know). Clears the back of the cluster as if it were designed to do so! This solution should work for any cluster one would like to put in!"
I'm doing a similar thing with an Audi 90 pod. Look at Europa spares for brake reservoirs like this compact one: |

I used mk3 golf gti clocks, a lot thinner than those that bloke has used so i didn't have the problems with master cylinder. I can't explain where i cut as i just dove in. Its easy though just get both clocks side by side and go right what needs to come off and get stuck in with the grinder.
All i can remember is that i stripped the golf clocks down and cut the front clear plastic off flush with the clock face, my plan is to cut and shape some clear plastic to fit the front of the T3 clocks when i get a chance. There are a few pics in my blog that should give you more of an idea.

I have been in the local scrappy today and picked up a brake fluid reservoir off a flat pun to. It has 3 outlets and the plastic adaptors fit perfectly on the vw cylinder and has a spare port for the clutch. The vw cap even fits, but I need to check if it activates at the right level. It certainly looks like it will make a easily mount able remote reservoir so the vw clocks can be fitted deeper in the pod.

That'll do it! My 90 pod is putting up a fight, it's so bloody deep! I may have to fit a remote servo after all :(
Either that or bring the steering wheel closer to the driver a shade (maybe with a later T 4 wheel) and muck about with raising the column switchgear, which would be easier.
