Hi all just wondering if anyone on here can tell me the build date on my lt camper ?It's first registered Feb 1981 but I know that doesn't mean built thanks in advance matt

Yes i can, down to 3-4 days margin. You can write your WIN number in this tread, you can PM me your WIN number if you dont want every body to know it. Or, if you can read German, it is possible to find out on the LT-Wiki on the German german LT-forum.de
I calculated my LT to be buildt on Friday 13th, but it showed up it was a mondays car.

The first numbers, 289 indicates it is a 1979 model The first 1979 model, produced August 1 1978 was number 289 2500001. The last LT production number i find is 289 2531282 produced june 30 The production number for july 31 is 2600000 and that has to be wrong. Usualy July is vacation month.
2525076 was the last produced in April 79 and 2528363 was the last in May. That gives 3287 prodused in May 1979. (3287/31=106)That gives 2130 prodused before yours (65%)and 1157 prodused after yours (35%) So i would gues Monday May 21 1979 If it was a 1980 it would start with 28A and 1981 is 28-B-

Wow your good !! Is there anyway I can get a letter from brick-yard or you to satisfy dvla so I can get the historic tax a year early as I'm about to lose my storage? Thanks again

I sendt a mail to the VW importer to Norway, and got a mail back, confirming the build date.
Mine was buildt Feb 16, 1987 but first reguistered january 2, 1989. I went to the norwegian "VDLA", with the documentation from the importer and they corected the data, so i saved about £250 a year, for 2 years. I think you have to get the information from the VW importer to the UK. An other option is the VW museum in Wolfsburg. I think it is caled the "stiftung museum". That will be official documentation. How ever send a mail to the VDLA and ask how to do this.
