hi all
Could anyone tell me how much work would be involved in swapping a 1.6 ez engine for a 2.0 agg lump ?
Would it be just a matter of swapping the sump , oil pick up , clutch and fly wheel ?
Thanks in advance
👍

I've never seen a bus with that motor fitted.
You should post up a couple of photos then we'll have a better idea.
Bollocks to it all!!

EZ is the code for the 1595cc carb engine fitted to mk2 Golfs.

You don't say what vehicle you are talking about so guess on this forum it'll be either a T3 or T4? 1.6 isn't the most powerful or torquey engine for such vehicles so a 2.0 would make more sense.

AGG 2.0 is similar to an EZ but has a taller block, as we don't know what vehicle you are talking about we don't know the angle the engine is fitted at and that needs to be identified as golf inlet manifold if fitted on either a T3 or T4 will not have the carb sitting at the correct angle.
That aside the AGG inlet manifold / head port shape is different to EZ, so whatever inlet / carb setup is fitted to the EZ won't seal properly on an AGG head, (the heads are interchangeable though).
Also AGG uses a single window hall effect dizzy with no centrifugal or vacuum advance which the EZ dizzy does have. The dizzy hole in the block and drive gear are larger on the AGG but there are conversion rings available and fitting one and swapping the dizzy drive gear will allow the EZ dizzy to fit the AGG engine.

I have a basic knowledge of mechanics and am going to attempt the swap myself
Any advise before the start that could make the job just abit easier?

Cheers
