Hi,
I'm new to this forum so be gentle. Ha ha

I have a vw t5.1 2013 and when I used it today the heater was only blowing hot air no matter where I turned the temperature dial.
It has air con and even with this on it was the same.
I'm guessing there is some kind of valve that mixes the cold air with th hot air.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Terry

Welcome Terry!  On most modern VW's there is no heater valve.  This means that the heater is full of hot water all the time and the temperature is regulated solely by flaps within the heater unit.  There were some problems with the cables on the old model vans which can cause this problem.  Not sure how it is with the later vans, especially if yours has climate control where electric motors are often used instead of cables.  If yours does have climate control if you can get it hooked up to diagnostics it might point out what the problem is.

Could be an airblock Mr Big.

On my 2.5, two largish pipes go into
the firewall just to the right of middle.
More or less behind the dipstick.

If you start the engine from cold and
let it tick over the pipes
should get warm fairly quickly.
One pipe, the left one on mine
should heat up before the other one.

If one pipe doesn't heat nearly as quickly as
the other one, you've probably got an airlock.

Haynes tells you how to sort it on P1.17
in their VW T5 manual.

Some guff here: -

Thanks I'll take a look when I get it back. It only happened yesterday when I was taking it for a pop top fitting.

I mean a hose from a metal pipe
at the back of the rockerbox Mr Big
that goes to the firewall / bulkhead.

And another pipe to the right of it
that goes towards the front of the engine.

Which engine have you got?

I wasn't talking about your insignificant typo Charlie. (I ignore those as long as they are understandable  since I make so many myself)  It was just that the OP's original problem was that his heater is constantly blowing hot which is extremely unlikely to be caused by any airlock.
