Hi, Got a 2012 T5 Auto and want to fit some General Grabber AT3 tyres as I use farm tracks etc a fair bit. I want to keep my 16" steel wheels and put on 235-70-16 to help fill out the arches a bit but the problem is that I've had conflicting advice about this size tyre rubbing. Has anyone fitted this size without any issues ? Thanks.

Maybe you could jack up each corner (by the suspension, not the bodywork) to get an idea of how much clearance you currently have, then calculate how much extra room you need for the bigger tyres to see how much clearance would be left.

Hints: Do both front wheels at the same time so you can turn the steering wheel, also allow for suspension movement over bumps (both up and down).  If you are intending to use different rims also allow for any difference in offset.

I have stuck with std sized tyres on std (steel) wheels on my van.

Depends a lot on the offset
on your rims.

Your handbook will tell you
tyre options.

235/55 R17 is a standard option.
As a standard option chains
can be fitted, which means
you should have plenty of room
sideways to fit your 235/70

17"s are 12mm taller than 16"s

By my fag packet calculation, your
235/70 are about 10mm taller
than our 235/55s.

In theory you should have
more clearance than us.

Dirty Weekender fit
all sort of tyres.

If it were me, I'd ask 'em.
