RNS has very white/opaque screen

   Hi all, me and the good lady went to look at a nice T5.1 camper today. It will be our first if we get it. It needs a few jobs doing but nothing big. One issue is that the sat nav/radio unit has a very bright white screen. I assume it is a genuine VW RNS unit. Music plays and I can just about see a picture through the rear view camera.
Any ideas why the screen would go like this. Also can it be fixed or if not what is the best way to change the unit/upgrade. I prefer plug and play.
