Evening people, new member. I have read lots of things on here prior to purchasing one so made sence to join now I have one.

just bought the van and already have many questions for people who know more about them

Drive belt set up-

It appears I may have a jx alternator set up which uses a single v belt.

I get belt squeal sometimes when the alternator is heavily loaded and it isn't loose. I like the idea of fitting a newer alternator with a higher output and a clutched pulley that will also run a 5/6pk belt.

Is there a Proper list of all the parts needed to do this ? Lots of small bits of info have read

Turbo wastegate hose-

My van seems very slow ! Which I accepted but I did earlier on notice there is no vacuum pipe to the wastegate actuator. Hoping I can plum in a bit of pipe and completely change how it drives.

Any good reason for this not being there? Weird

Gearbox-

I thought I had read people switch to a 5 speed when doing a aaz  conversion mines a 4 speeds so I presume its the original box?
Any problems with going to a 5 speed?

That's all for now. Won't be long before I have more questions I'm sure

Thanks ☺️

1) you need a complete 1.9 serpentine belt set up. Personally I’d just tighten the v-belt set up!

2) definitely re-fit the vacuum pipe to the lda on the pump- it’ll be rubbish without it.

3) boxes all vary ratios most 4 speed have almost the same top end ratio as the 5 speeds. If it’s very low geared the bigger rear wheels and taller tires help as much as changing the box.
