Hi all,

I have a new VW Crafter with factory tow bar/electrics.

I also have an amber flashing lightbar on the roof with stop/tail and indicator leds.

I tackled the task of connecting the lightbar to the vehicle to today for stop lamps, indicators and tail lights etc and I was going to wire off the light circuit on the rear light clusters, I measured volts and had 12 volts for must functions but did noticed the side lights were 6v, no good for a power take off for the lightbar then I thought.

I then had a look at the trailer plug fitted to the van and had 12v for all functions, this got me thinking, if I were to take power from the trailer socket for the light bar, would the van detect this and assume I had a trailer on and maybe alter certain behaviours intended for a trailer?
