Well exactly 2 years since I last logged in.
Our van fitted with B4 gas struts and 70mm lowered springs recently failed the Dutch MOT because the rear springs were deemed not ‘structurally captured’. It was a fair point but it had past 3 previous tests.....Oh well, keeps you busy. I cut up and folded an old tyre to force the spring onto the trailing arm which met with approval. But now back from holidays I want a less pikey solution. I was looking at shorter shocks and doing some cross reference. The only thing I’ve come up with is the rear shocks from a Volvo V90/S90 from around 1996. I think I would need to modify one of the eyes/bushes. I have some early beetle Konis but these are too short. I need a limit of around 475mm. Any other suggestions? Don’t particularly want to use a (kevlar) strap. Thanking yous, Stuart |
