T5 gp radio/aerial

   I just bought a 15 plate t5 gp or 5.1 if you like, radio reception is none existent, I've looked inside the passenger side door mirror and there is no aerial  
Although there are 2 coax leads plugged into the head unit(rcd 310) my guess is the door mirrors have been replaced without the aerial.would I be better off having a aerial fitted to the roof or get a new one for the mirror?
