Just got an LT35 mk1.
5 gears, diesel engine.

The previous owner said that first gear is used for hill pull-aways and in general to use 2nd gear for normal pull-aways (ie gears 2-5 act as 1-4).

Is this correct?

Thx SmileSmile

Welcome! Beer Can be but not strictly so. Depends what you are comfortable with how much load you carry, terrain etc. 1st is a very short gear. If your's is the ACL engine then they have a bit more low end torq so maybe this is why he /she mentioned it.

Would you recommend using first as normal? or stick to pulling away and treating 2nd gear as first gear then?

(sorry it is all a bit new to me!)

And thanks for the welcome :)

As you feel is right. If your needing to rev high, puling off slow & using too much clutch in 2nd then you probably ought to be using 1st.
