Help.
Have been losing coolant recently on my 1.9 tdi. T5 but NOT pressuring the system and not overheating either. I do however have a milky oil filler cap. So pressure tested system to 1 1/5 bar no leaks externally So replaced headgasket and turbo as was blowing oil via worn housing and clip. And you guessed it still losing coolant. The thermostat seems to take ages to open it does eventually tho.i mean ages could this cause the coolant to condensate in the engine as it runs cooler on the bottom than the top. The steam coming out of the expansion bottle with cap off seems a lot as im pretty sure it's not circulating as it should due to the thermostat taking age to open. Is it possible the the radiator flow could cause this. IT'S doing the same as before the head gasket replacement GUTTED. Losing about 200ml per 120 miles NOT pressuring is my worry as the last H/G I done on this van pressurised all over the place. Any thoughts would be appreciated or anyone else had this problem after H/G replacement TIA. Edited by Wilkie - 26 Mar 18 at 19:13 |
