Oh - Haven't been around here much, for a while! (Sold my T3 a few years back, and making a R32 powered Touran)

Question - can a T5 TDI manual trans be physically bolted up to the 3.2 V6 in a T5 caravelle???

Do the have the same bellhousing angle? In mk5 Golfs, 4cyl and 5 / 6 cylinder versions have different bellhousing angles.

A manual V6 box probably doesn't exist here in NZ, and fitting a diesel one would be WAY cheaper, if they fit! I want to convert a T5 V6 Caravelle to manual trans.

Thanks for any info!

Even if a diesel box fits, have you thought about or compared gearbox ratios and overall ratios at the wheels?
Because the diesels rev lower than petrols, it may need a different differential or actual gearbox ratio swaps, to give correct highway speeds, etc.
Hope i've explained it correctly

Thanks Rebuild,

Yes I know the ratios are different, but there is such a range of boxes, and even the diesels are quite short geared.

The V6 shouldn't have issues overcoming slightly tall gearing, and 6 ratios should give me enough choices.

We've got a T5.1 BiTdi for work, and even it's earin wouldn't be too bad - 1st is nearly a waste of time when it's empty Smile

I have a funny feeling the bellhousings are different angles anyway Cry

I don't know whether to buy it or not, becasue I really don't like Autos Confused

Thanks for the reply!

Allan.
