Once you have fuel in the pump then do the union on top of injectors one at a time, the pump supplies the injector so if you crack one of unions it will be pulling through the pump forcing the air out at the union 👍

hi madra. been watching with interest.i have bled many diesels,some are easy and goes well,some are a bastard.so, how much fuel in the tank,is the van facing up hill or down,they both can matter.theres no hand pump so you need a good battery,keep a charged up spare to give a good spin.did you fill the new filters before fitting,very important. the slightest hint of air in the system will give you a hard times totally clear diesel is the way forward.there are little bleeder bolt on top of the filters undo the one under the wheel arch,get someone to get on the ignition key and spin until you yell! continue the same procedure with second filter bolted to engine,i.e. spin engine until clear diesel squirts out of filter,tighten bleeder,then for the pump.there is a bleeder on the pump but can't remember which bolt it is sorry,however,its not enough to undo the banjo cos air can still be trapped therein,look for a 17mil spanner size bolt,and undo without removing, spin over tighten when clear bubble free diesel squrits.theres no need to undo all the injector pipes,just 2 easy to get at pipes will do,she'll fire up on 2 and rest will join in.as you are spinning over,check exhaust for smoke,its good to see diesel burning.that 17 mil spanner might a 14 mil.again apologies for memory,have a nice weekend.

Just thinking out of the box a little.............you've not disturbed any of the wiring to the glow plugs have you causing the plugs not to warm sufficiently and making sporadic starting scenarios?
 
Not sure just assuming its the fuel may be a good idea on old vehicles like these...
 
Just a thought anyway matey......

Good stuff matey.......It dawned on me the other night that I had a sporadic starting issue and that turned out to be the fly wire from the back of the fuse box to the main fuse breaking down. It carried the 12v but not the current and had a serious impact on the starting.

Re: Diesel Bug - we had the same thing with our central heating oil tanks and had to add an additive to keep the bug undercontrol.

It's been an interesting read even for a non diesel guy, but editing wise I don't have any more options than you guys. Each post is on it's own their isn't a combine option.

If you create a new topic on the Diesel Bug I'll make it a sticky, and delete the duplicate posts from here if you wish. I think it reads better as is, but it's your topic mate.
