Hi!
Since a few
weeks I have a problem with the idle speed of my AAY (2.5i) with K-Jetronic. If I start
the cold(!) engine, the idle speed goes to 2000rpm. After ca. 10sec. the speed
increases to ca. 2600rpm. If I drive the car ca. 500-1000m, the idle speed is
around 1000rpm. This
happens only, if I start the cold engine. I already cleaned
the idle control valve with with break cleaner but nothing changed.
2000-2600rpm are a little bit to high.
;-)
Any ideas?
Best
regards, Gunther

Hi,
Try beginning with the simple things first. Check all wiring and wiring plugs to the engine. Try another idle control valve same as Audi 90/100. Reset your base idle when the engine is hot +- 800rpm. Hope this is of help. Nev. |

If you can get hold of Haynes Manual (or similar) for Audi 100 and 200 Oct 82 to 1990, H907014, that has details of the K-jetronic as used on the AAY engine, with details of cold start and warm-up valves.

Thanks for your reply. I found the fault.
I replaced the temperature switch on the bottom of the flange on the cylinder head. The switch tells the idle control circuit how to adjust the idling based on the engines temperature. Now the engine runs perfect.
