waves hello
hi all bought a 1980 T3 transporter that has been converted to a 1.9 aef vw golf diesel all works but.. how many pumps, filters buttons and rocker switches to start an engine!!!!!! turn red master key, black toggle to left, (dont know why he moved this from the ignition switch) red button on , green light comes on ( thats pump primes and glow plugs) wait till green light goes off turn off red button turn key ,( which all it does is turn starter over and puts charge and oil light on. can remove when running!) if it starts woohoo if not repeat red button and key. ran into a extremely savvy chap who has said dont mention my name he says its because its a petrol fuel tank and not a sealed system, and if i get a diesel one i can get rid of all the priming pumps malarky as it wont need to be primed ( apparently a diesel tank is a bottom feeder and a petrol tank sucks from the top? ) now. mine was originally a 1.6 petrol so tank mounted ( under front seat? area) and apparently the previous owner fitted a new tank ?? no idea what one so bowing to the great knowledge that will be here, exactly what do i need to get to simplify this crazy assed starting procedure
